Windows 7 and 8 and Touch screens

Hello,

I am seriously considering purchasing Sonar X3.
I currently have Windows 7 64 bit machine.
Is there any benefit to getting Windows 8 when using X3?
Do touch screens work just as well with Windows 7.

Sonar Platinum, S1 3, FL Studio 12, Cubase 7.5, Komplete 8, Waves Gold, Melodyne Studio 4, Windows 10 - 64bit, GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2, Intel Xeon W3690, 12GB RAM, 23" 10-touch ViewSonic and iPad Air as midi controller, iConnectMIDI2+, FireBox, Shuttle Pro2

SONAR does not work with touch on Win 7 must be at least Win 8.

Did Cakewalk totally disable multi-touch on Sonar X3 when using Windows 7?
Are there some gestures that will not function in Windows 7 when Sonar X3 is being used?

I strongly prefer to stay with my current OS Windows 7 and thus I am trying to understand  the issues that will hinder me form fully using X3 on a touch screen.

My understanding is that Windows 7 supports touch but not to the extent as Windows 8. X3 should work well on Windows 7 but should not be multi touch.  Windows 8 and X3 are multi touch enabled.
