Windows 7 doesn't recognize Presonus Inspire

Hi,
I just got a new PC, built by Purrfect Audio, running Windows 7. Computer runs great, but it doesn't recognize my old Presonus Inspire.  When I plug it in, the light turns blue for a few seconds, then goes to red. I downloaded the drivers and desktop application from Presonus. I don't think its the Inspire, as it still works fine on my old PC running WinXP.

Any thoughts?

Did you hook the device up first or run the driver install first?  Normally, you run the driver install first and only instal the device either when the driver install tells you or after the driver install has completed.

In most cases if you connect the device first either Windows will install an incorrect driver or the install will fail.

Connect the device and then go to the Device Manager and display the USB, chances are there will be an Unknown device entry shown, which is most likely the Inspire.  If there is, RIGHT click on the entry to highlight it and then LEFT click Uninstall.  Then disconnect the device from the PC, restart the PC and after Windows starts, reinstall the Presonus driver software and as noted connect the unit after the driver install.  This should take care of it.

Thanks for your reply.  I reinstalled the driver (it's v5.13.0.0) from Presonus, and when it gets to the part that says to reconnect the devices, I connect it to the firewire port, the light comes on blue for a few seconds, then it turns red. If I try to finish the installation, it asks if I want to finish without connecting the device. Evidently the device at least gets power from the firewire, so the light turns on, but the computer is not recognizing the device.
