Windows 7 jitters

I have got a new computer using Windows 7 64bit and 3 GB ram. I have a lexicon u42s interface. I have got the latest fixes, the latest drivers installed. When I play one track, it plays smoothly. The moment I play two tracks, there are a lot of pops and jitters. I tried changing the sound card and using my mbox 2 mini, but the problem persists. Can anybody help?

I run Win7 32 bit, but I had similar issues at first. I spent a lot of time googling tweaks for Win7 and disabled a lot of useless features. Now it really runs well. I suggest you check that - along with buffer size, obviously. Good luck!
