Windows 8.1 Preview and Sonar X2a
Working good. No issues as yet.

How do you like 8.1 ? Worth updating ?

I'd just like to ask those of you who don't have a touch screen monitor, what other benefits were you hoping for and have they materialised ? I've heard people say it gives better audio performance and stability and having just watched this video of bench mark tests from rain computers it seems to be a very small benefit. So, what else is great about it ? Experience has taught me to hold on, wait for a few service packs and revisions before jumping in. I do like windows 7 and I don't have (and can't afford) a touch screen monitor so..... sell it to me Steve

I'm so thankful for you guys on the bleeding edge. Make sure the OS is rock solid before I upgrade (I'm thinking about Vista next week).

NEVER EVER EVER INSTALL A NEW OS OVER AN EXISTING OS.
Always install to a new partition/disk.
My music computer has w7-32, w7-64, and w8-64, different partitions, on OS disk.

I had issues and had to revert to win8
The drivers for my audio interface (and more) didn't work
if any of your devices have an advanced driver option,try turning it off. my A500s midi key board has one and i could never get the drivers to load in windows 8.1 preview until i turned the advanced option off. Good luck.

Nah. For me it's not worth the trouble. I'd rather stay on Win8 that I know I can depend on until the final release and until there are official drivers for the hardware I use.

Hi Steve. I wont try to sell you anything but I will tell you my overall impression of Windows 8. First it is very fast to boot. Most everything about its desktop operation feels more refined and carefully though out. I really like Windows Explorer. It is outstanding. I don't use Internet Explorer so I can't comment on it except it seems to work fine. Because I come from Vista for me Windows 8 was a very necessary upgrade. I could have gone with Win 7 but I had already tried it when it was in preview. I was not impressed with it enough to leave Vista. As I have said before about Windows 8 you get two OSs for the price of one. One OS that will work across a wide range of devices. I think as time goes on it will prove a very smart move by MS. Touch support is already in Windows 7. 8 brings more ability to it and makes it work on all devices in the same way. I believe if one gives it a good chance to shine it will endear itself to you. However if I were on Windows 7 and was happy with it I'm not too sure I would go for Windows 8. At least not at this time. But for me it was a happy change for the better. Don't get me wrong still like Vista, however, Windows 8 is clearly a better OS. I hope this brief review is of some help.
