Windows OS does not support USB 3.0
I see a lot of people jumpng on the USB 3.0 bandwagon, but going by the comment in the latest Windows 7 newsletter, USB 3.0 is not software supported, yet, by Windows.
From the Win 7 Newsletter:
The latest Windows 7 news has an article about Windows 8 supporting USB 3.0 and that speculation is that Microsoft could add it to Win 7 SP2 that they are working on.
If this is true, all the new USB 3.0 hardware and interfaces are not being fully utilized, and there is no reason to jump on the USB 3.0 "bandwagon" until there is OS support.
From Win7news:
Should USB 3.0 support be part of Windows 7 SP2?
We know that one much-wanted feature of Windows 8 will be support for the faster new USB 3.0 technology, along with backward compatibility for devices that use an older version of USB. But what if you don't want to or can't upgrade your operating system for a while? One solution would be for Microsoft to "backport" USB 3.0 support to Window 7 via Service Pack 2, as suggested here:
