Windows Update, 1 - Splat, 0.

Windows update ran after I got home from work - not automatically; I said "Yeah, sure - let's get this update out of the way before I get started!".  Ready to put in an evening's worth of mixing prior to leaving town.  Now, EVERYTHING loads slow, and the performance meter shows NO cores, no activity.  Thus, no sound.  Anyone else run into this?  My computer - and all the software on it - is acting like one very expensive oversized paperweight at the moment, save for this very thin connection to the outside world.

Studio One 3.5. SPLAT 64.  Win 7 Pro.  Dell 7010, i7 3770, 3.4 GHz, 16Gb RAM.  Tascam US-122 Mk II.  Lotsa other gadgets.

    The best kind of obstacles are the kind you can figure out on yer own...and quickly.  There was a driver update needed, too.  Windows Update - 1, Splat - 1.
