Windows Update KB4038788 causes 32 bit Sonar platinum to crash.

Yesterday, I uninstalled it and my system returned to normal, so there is no doubt. Today, Windows needs to reinstall Update KB4038788. Anyone else had a problem with this on 64 bit systems running 32 and 64 bit Sonar Platinum? The crash happens when you insert a plug in into the effects bin and is consistent. It only seems to happen with established projects. The problem is on the 32 bit version of Sonar. I'm working with some old projects that work only in 32 bit.

I found this in a search:  "KB4038788 causes Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D version 3.x to crash to desktop".

I've experienced two crashes since installing the KB4038788 update. As yet I've been unable to pinpoint the specific steps which produce the error.

There are also several posts on the Visual Studio forum detailing VS2015 crashes since the KB4038788 update. Other reports include update related problems with Microsoft Edge and graphics drivers.

Who among us, the billions of people, has the ability to somehow convince Microsoft they were wrong about this forced update idea. Is there anyone? The Dalai Lama, perhaps.  And.....Cakewalk, you seem to have a little pull with them......Can you call them up or...something.  Thanks.

Why should I have to explain............We've all been through this.  Yet, this idea of sinking into repression........well, let me tell you, I can't do it any more.

Just a comment, before my post disappears into oblivion.

Alright, I'll try it. We'll see what happens, but here comes KB4038788 back in the mix.

OK.....Here's what happened.  Window's installed KB4038788 again. But, after the 100% point,  a prompt came up on the screen:       "We couldn't complete the updates.  Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer"

After some time, my computer was up and running again with failed installation note in windows update. I realized that I still needed to download the new update KB4040724, which I did.

Then, I tried the update installation again and ended up with the "We couldn't complete the updates" prompt again.
Both updates [KB4038788 and KB4040724] failed. I downloaded the Window's Update troubleshooter tool and ran that. It wanted to re-download the 2 updates and so I left it at that for now. I need to get some sleep.  I'll try that tomorrow.

I still get the "We couldn't complete the updates prompt". I had run the Windows update troubleshooter tool and it seemed to correct some errors. But, when I tried to reinstall the 2 updates, they just wouldn't install.  Fine for the moment, because without those updates my computer works. Windows, however, is nagging me about needing to update, citing security issues if I don't. I really not sure if Microsoft is puffing up a lot of fluff or maybe it's nothing to worry about, for the moment, at least. Maybe I should set my Kaspersky on high octane. I just took some St John's Wort. Does it work? We'll wait and see.

Well the St John's Wort didn't work, but a big glass of Italia Wine did. I'm going to put all this out of my mind for now. Take a break from my music. Tomorrow, I'm going to take a walk through the forest. I know places out there few people know about.  A brook where you can take off your shoes and walk through. You do have to be careful about the Water Moccasins, however. They roll down the stream like happy snakes, wrap around your legs and wait for a frog. I guess the season is over, though. Thanks everyone for your interest.

I would restore to the last working state before the update and then disable win updates for a month or two. This way you keep a working DAW and usually a later update which is cumulative will include the win fixes and install properly.
