Windows Update Killed Sonar (SOLVED)

I want to thank Sonar support for helping me get my PC up and running yesterday.

Windows updates were the culprit! It put my PC on automatic updates without my approving after I stopped the automatic thing twice. It corrupted my audio files etc.  I took it off automatic update twice. I had it set to have me decide which updates to install but somehow it redid itself and without me approving any of the downloads. Sonar support suggested a system restore. I tried several times using restore dates going further and further back with each saying couldn't complete due to bad files. I went back to the first of the month and finally got it to restore. Everything is fine now.
Sonar support was great and we worked on it for awhile. We did a couple of reinstalls from the command center. They took control of the PC. but were baffled nothing seemed to work. The system restore worked. They weren't the critical updates but the optional updates. It installed all of them

Glad that you are m'kay again I had a Win update screw with my control surface a few months ago. Just pure luck that I found that out on my own.
    All the best.

Glad you got it working! Shouldn't the thread title say "solved" in case other people run into the same problem?

This is why I no longer have my DAW plugged into the Internet. It is hard enough to get a stable machine, and once I do, I don't need Microsoft messing with it.
