Winter NAMM approaching

Announced at winter NAMM shows:

2003 - P5 1.0
2004 - P5 1.5
2005 - P5 2.0

Does this mean we can expect an announcement for 2.5 soon?

1). Announced just prior to Christmas week.
2). Scheduled for a January 27th release date.
3). Cakewalk servers go down on the 26th, and various other tweaks and delays force an actual release on/around February 3rd.
4). Breaking with tradition, it won't be a .5 version.
5). New RGC-inspired synth, new effect, one major workflow addition, but no mixer. They forget about pre-post, and the Note Off anomalies remain.
    6). Free to registered users.

    somehow Winter NAMM
always reminds me of the Tet Offensive

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tet_Offensive

fortunately I wasn't there, but draft age with a very high lottery number

they should change the name or convince me of a better pronunciation
or maybe the don't need to worry since the demographic they're marketing to is too young to have these associations

Following the Reason 2.5 - 3.0 Upgrade model?
    Project 5 Ver. 1 - 1.5 was a pretty significant upgrade. Ver. 1.5 - 2.0 was even bolder.
    Ver 2.01 - 3.00? I don't know if I could stand the shock.

Funk it!!! Bring it on Cake. I'll stock up on single malts....

Actually, it goes somethng like this:
    1) Cakewalk announces that Project5 will now be available entirely FREE and set up a website for users to download: www.freeP5.com
    2) Current owners of P5 software are sent a voucher worth $3.27 that can be used on Cakewalk's loop sample CD line.
    3) Jesse Jost leaves the company and begins breeding miniature dachsunds for a living.
    4) Kinetic is announced as "Sonar on Steroids!" and is retrofitted with 2 plastic wheels and a pull string.
    5) B Rock sinks further in to his self-imposed exile in the swamps of Florida.
    6) Grandpa Mojo admits he hasn't really used P5 since version 1.5.

Project5 will now be available entirely FREE
There goes any semblence of legitimacy that we've managed to cobble together. Then again, it could work.
Just follow the lead of the FOCUSfactor model: free=must be good. Beats one track=one synth as a prime directive.

It will be christened Project5 V2.4.
B Rock sinks further in to his self-imposed exile in the swamps of Florida.
    Sounds prescient.

    1) Cakewalk announces it's become a wholly owned subsidiary of General Mills and releases a line of virtual analog muffins.
    2) Grandpa Mojo is revealed to be an actual grandfather living in Sarasota with his pants hiked up three inches below is armpits.
    3) Jesse Jost is revealed not to exist at all... insiders comment that we "really should have known due to the silly alliterative name"
    4) Project 5 v.3 is released, taking the form of a computer based cooking/recipe program. Main selling point: it will work with your existing cooking hardware via Rewire
    5) Sonar 6 is classified on release by the U.S. Navy, making it unavailable to the general public.
    6) General Mills sells Cakewalk to Yamaha, and all current users immediately spontaneously combust.
