Here's another tune from Buffer and me.  Buffer on piano and vocals, me messing up everything else again.

They just get better and better! You've almost put me in the Christmas mood and I haven't managed a "Bah, Humbug" all day. Just goes to prove how great your music is! (45's are those new-fangled music thingies which kids play on something called a record player (what ever that is) - it will never catch on - nothing wrong with a good old 78 if that darn dog would just get it's head out of the horn!).

    Herb,
I was kidding. I used to collect them in the 60's and 70's.

    Karyn,
    Thanks!

    Malcolm,
I hope to keep you from saying bah humbug ever again! Thanks for listening!

Great tune, Scotty.  Did you write it?  LOL, just kidding.  Your CD is going to be on the player when we have the Annual Arizona Court of Appeals Christmas party at our house.  15 or 16 years we've had it.  I'll be interested in the response.  I'll bet there's some dancing!

Another great tune Scotty! My mom used to sing this to me when I was a kid...kinda makes me tear up while thinking of her and seeing her smiling face while singing this. :)

Drums maybe a little low and thin possibly...or on purpose? I kinda noticed this in Santa Clause...kinda like mgh I believe mentioned...but it wasn't always in the tune. I started to type "drums maybe a little thin and low" and then I relistened and they seemed fine other than in a few spots. But in this one I definitely hear them a bit too low and thinned out. I know sometimes on tunes like these we don't want the drums to dominate...they are supposed to take a back seat because having them up too much kills the vibe here. So if it was on purpose, it's fine as is...if not, that's the only thing I'd fix on this.

Of course your fiddle skills are always off the hook and the one thing I really like about your mixes is how you never blast the listner with "ok, this is me...this is my fiddle, hear me roar!" You always mix it in perfectly with incredible tone. When you're doing backing fiddles...they sit perfect...when you solo more...they sit perfect. That's really great. Another thing...what the heck are you using for bass in this? I love it! Sounds like an up-right at times...but whatever it is, it has a really cool low sub harmonic that just sounds soo good to me. Really loved it as well as the rest of the song and the voices. You always deliver the goods man...well done and thanks for sharing it. :)

    Grant,
    Thank you once again!

    Danny,
So good to hear from you on this thread!

I tend to keep the drums in the background on laid back songs, as you said, to keep with the vibe. After all it isn't a rock song, right?

I appreciate the comments about where I keep the fiddles in the mix. When I am mixing I try to think like a producer/engineer rather than a musician. That kind of thinking benefits the recording much more than someone who thinks their instrument has to be heard the most and in every bit of the song.

The bass you heard is my Ibanez SR-755 5-string bass ran directly into my recording rig. Thanks again for checking it out!
