(Won't) Let Me In
I'm gonna throw this song out there. It's an old song that I never posted here. It's really low-fi and demo-y. The vocals are flat in places and it's kinda boring overall. But it's done and over and I really don't want to revisit it. The lyrics are extremely personal also. There are harmonies. I think. Lol. I just wanted to share it with you all because for some reason I still think it's an OK song. My Wife actually loves it but, then again, she loves Justin Beiber too. Lol. I happen to think I sound like a drunken Alfalfa on this. Anyway, give a listen and let me know what you think. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12575442 Peace & Love, Don

Great songwriting Don, I love it. The "flatness" of the vocals actually matches the message of the song perfectly. Your wife's right! :)

I like that Don, simple, direct and heartfelt. I'm a huge fan of Justin Currie (ex-'Del Amitri'), and this reminded me of his songwriting - big compliment intended.

Cool job.... this fits the indie genre that is apparently immensely popular right now. Slightly out of tune guitars and vocals are all the rage in TV shows right now... good message..... lots of people are dealing with rejection from family for various reasons.....and life is too short for that sort of nonsense.

I love you guys!!!! Thank you so much for the compliments! Wookie, I remember you from back in the day!!! I always liked your music a lot! Thank you so much for listening and commenting!! :-) James, I respect your opinion a great deal!! I'll have to check out Justin Currie, and, believe me, I take it as a very big compliment indeed!! Herb, You totally nailed the message of the song. This was a song I absolutely had to write for myself. And it was never intended to sound the way it does. I think that I was quite inebriated during this time in my life and I think you can hear it in this song.

That's a lot of disclaimers for a good song ;) I can hardly wait to hear what you consider polished.

Very heartfelt song with a story Don. Nice guitar sound and played from the heart as well. Thanks for sharing your personal thoughts. Very nicely done with a good mix. Peace and Blessings, John

Wow!!! This is really swell!! It is so nice to be back here. :-) I'm so happy to share music with people as nice as you all. I thought this song would get ripped apart (hence the disclaimers) but it didn't. Maybe my Wife is right??? Lol. I actually have a new "polished" song I'm mixing now. I can't wait to share it with you all AND I can't wait to hear all of the great new music on this forum!!! This is wonderful. :-)

Really like this - it's my cup of tea totally. I reckon your whole downer write up to introduce the song was all a big ruse to lower our expectations. Bravo sir.

Thanks Daryl!!! Maybe I did play the sympathy card a little bit. Lol. But I am very self-conscious about this particular song with all it's many imperfections. And it's really personal to me too. I'm really happy with the reception it got. My Wife loves it. But what does that mean y'know? She doesn't like good music.
