Workaround for 'Disk may be Full' message

I discovered a quick and easy way around this error message:

1) Tools > Consolidate Audio Project (puts all audio in a folder called Backup)
2) Go to the Project folder and delete all the audio from the Audio folder
3) Move the consolidated audio from the Backup folder to the Audio folder
4) Open the file

At this point, you might get the 'Find Missing Audio' dialog box because the .cwp still contains references to the trashed audio.

However, the audio that was discarded by the Consolidation procedure was not part of the project - so you can click Skip All.

Bingo! The .cwp opens with only the audio needed by the project and in my case I was able to Save immediately.

I'm guessing that when you open the new, consolidated version of the file, you update the .cwp (same as Saving). The above steps worked for me but I don't know enough about the way the .cwp file works to guarantee it would work every time.

    that'll only get you so far - sounds like that drive is *way* too full. time for a new one!

    Not sure if you were joking but this post refers to when the message is bogus and the disk is not full.

    I've had the message several times when all the documented conditions that cause the message are not present, so have others.

    It's some kind of bug.

    Also, remember to delete the picture cache.

    Sorry to bump, but I just recieved this message on a song my band has been working on for about 6 months now.  The CWP file itself went missing right after CWSPE8.5 was closed.  It has alot of midi data and not to mention project data.  My disc is not even CLOSE to full...
    I have been a customer for a while but a bug like this is not forgiveable.  Is there a way around this?  We spent alot of time on this.  I am aware that the audio files are still there, but I really care about the midi the most.
