Hi Frank - I would not touch a thing in this mix. The rawness of the message comes through perfectly and I feel any polish would detract from that. This is a song that comes from the heart and you really feel the desperation and anguish. A truly great song with lyrics that say it all about life today and a performance that is without equal. Stunning.

I don't get it Biden said it was the Summer of recovery 2 years ago? This song must have been written before then? I watched the state of the union show last night, and Barry said things are just great. He wouldn't lie to us would he?

We've been circling the bowl for some time, I'm afraid we're headed for the hole at the bottom... This tune was well written, performed and recorded. I enjoyed it.

Lush pro-mixed fun and excellence!  I suppose a lot of folks identify this type of country in today's depression.

Country Lyrics: Not my cup due to 'Christmas wining and dining' (if that makes sense).

Everything else is solid and perfect; The hook is excellent for pop-country, IMO.  Recording/production 10/10.

This mix sounds like it's right here in my room.  The lead vocal sounded a little bit too upfront but very nice.  Nice harmony.

This is why I never foresake country music and when I'm playing jazz or blues or rock, the country is still there.  Nice tune.

I did not hear the first mix but this one is good. A good topic and a great song.

I was amused at BOTR's comment. Since Obama's policies have taken effect, the economy IS getting better.

An excellent bit of work on a great bit of tunage. Country? Who would have thought I would start to like it. You guys are corrupting me! ;-)

a caveat i am not a country fan/afficianado. great mix, sounds earthy but clear, a great bass/lower-mid mix on this one.excellent Frank, i expect no less from you. of course, i think i prefer your jazz/swing numbers, but the skill in playing and mix is evident in this.

Excellent job on a traditional country tune that doesn't reference drinkin', trucks or momma

The mix sounds fantastic as do the contributions from all involved. Nice mandolin playing BTW...that is you, right?

Love the baritone voice.  Great lyrics as well.

My ears hear (imagine that is) a harmony above you at around 1:48.

I can also imagine the harmony starting on the first chorus with you, at 0:48, as you sing "Being out of work..."

Funny note, when you sang "December's here" I thought I heard Decem Brassaire.  I had no idea what you meant until I heard the word "Santa".

    I like this Frank.

It reminded me a lot of the 80's country male vocalists like Charlie Pride, Vern Gosden, Paycheck, Gillie and so many other great hit makers.

    Nice song.

I love this kind of country, but I keep getting told traditional doesn't sell these days....  it's gotta be "contemporary" sounding.  But that doesn't change what I like, and I like this song a lot.
