Working with L & R seperately

What are some of the ways within X1 to seperately process the left and right channels of one stereo track. - Is Channel Tools the only real option? I don't think there is a way to unjoin L&R so that envelopes can be used on each side?- or is there. I mean even Audacity does that ! I think the Overtone EQ will process left and right differently....what are some others?

Thanks !!!

Bounce the track using split mono and process the tracks separately or use two sends panned left and right and work on the busses.

You can pan sends from a stereo track.  Then use the bus FX bins to process the two signals independently.

I wouldn't have thought of splitting off sends - nice.  I'd always done the bounce mono thing.

I do that a lot - bouncing to split mono - on (synth) piano tracks that I record in stereo and then split into left and right hand parts, as that's how the synth is panned. Once separated, I can thin out the bottom on the left hand part so it doesn't step on the bass guitar, or put reverb on the upper notes that would be too muddy on the low notes.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

So just to clarify a little -- do you mean to put two seperate sends in the channel bin - and pan them there before they go to the bus...do the buses need to be panned L & R as well?

    1. Insert 2 sends which go to 2 (new) busses - pan one send 100% left, the other 100% right
    2. The busses don't need to be panned as each one will only be receiving Left or Right singals
