Working with Stems...

Correct me if I'm wrong... but shouldn't "import audio" (from the File menu) work to import stems into a Sonar X2 or X3 project? I have even tried dragging the files over from the browser. I get dialogs showing progress of "conversion" or even "importing" but then NOTHING shows up in the timeline. The tracks EVEN create themselves LABELED to the name of the file.. but NOTHING shows up. Hitting PLAY plays nothing at all.

Am I doing something wrong? I have tried this with Sonar 8.5pe.. x2, AND x3 to no avail. Same result across the board. I even changed my interface to 48000Mhz to prevent the "conversion" IN CASE that was the hold up. I am trying to import some Dream Theater stem mixes to test something on my system. No luck apparently....

Thanks in advance...

PS: I also tried to import another set of stems from another project to the same result. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Is it possible the files are being imported way down the timeline? If so, deselect Preferences > File > Audio Data "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp"

Scook, do you keep count of how often you answer this question? wink

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Yeah, it is a FAQ. Fortunately the fix is easy.

I just asked the same question but my preferences show everything is checked, including the "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp"

If you want to control where the waves are loaded, uncheck "Always Import Broadcast Waves At Their Timestamp". With the option checked the waves will be located in the track based on the timestamp embedded in the wave.

Right I read that as "select" not "deselect" Thanks.
