Wrong Bit Depth Displayed in Toolbar [SOLVED]

Just noticed that although my sound card is 48kHz / 24 bit Sonar X3 displays 48 / 16 in the little sample rate / bit depth display on the toolbar. I just opened Sonar X2 and it displays 48 / 24 as it should. Checked my audio preferences and it also displays 24 bit depth. Anyone else notice this error?

[SOLUTION] Submitted a help ticket and received a response within 24 hours. Cakewalk's response in addition to the great insight provided by the forum members here enabled me to solve this problem.  I simply had the wrong setting in Preferences in File-Audio Data. I had to set the record and render bit depths to 24 bit instead of 16. Thanks everyone!

You need to check the settings in X3. Are you using wdm or asio? Check under preferences-audio-playback and recording. Set it the same as you have x2.

If you are using asio it will default to 24bit. If you are using wdm you will need to set it to 24bit in the perferences-audio-driver settings.

Sounds like it did not import the settings from x2 when you installed x3.

The display in the transport module is the configuration of the project not the audio interface. To change the Record Bit Depth go to Preferences > File > Audio Data.

Hi Tom! Checked my driver settings and I'm using ASIO and the bit depth is set to 24 (which is the defalut when you use the ASIO driver on the UA-1G sound card).  The audio files are indeed 24 bit when I check their properties.. It's just the toolbar display that shows 16 bit..

    Peace!

I've notice this to, for quite some time (since X1, I think). I figured it was a known issue, but not a high priority for Cakewalk to fix.

Check under preferences-file-audio data. Be sure the record and render bit depth are set to 24 bit.

+1 for what Tom suggested. I ran into the same issue as you Daniel awhile back and that was the fix.
