X! can you automate a plugin on/ off or bypass?

With Waves SSL - can you automate the plugin on/ off or perhaps bypass (in X1)? I only want it to engage for about 10 seconds of this particular song. Thanks!

what I do with plugs is select the automation lane and select the dropdown and it will show automation parameters if sonar supports it for the fx.

Thanks. I do see that. The problem is, with so many parameters, to get all the settings back to unity (or neutral) would take a lot of automation!! Sure would be simpler if I could just turn it off or on. I suppose I could just copy that part of the audio to a new track and add the plugin there. But it would be cool if I could just automate it off.

Some plugins have an on/off or mix parameter that can be automated. Without a parameter like that you can do as you say copy a part to another track but that is not necessary, you can drop the effect in the clip's fx bin and skip moving the clip to another track.

Didn't think about just adding it just to a clip! That's perfect! Thank you.

The SSL plug-in for Waves has a parameter called "IN" this is essentially a bypass for the plug-in. You can automate that parameter to achieve what you're trying to do.

Thank you, Lance!! I did see that, but didn't try it. I'll give it a try this evening!
