X1 Additional Content wont install - dimension pro v1.5 not found - FIXED
I get an error message saying that the correct version of dimension Pro was not installed (or words to that effect.) I have installed the 1.5 update on top of my 1.2 version. When I insert DP into a project, open it and right click on properties it definitely comes up as v1.5 so that has worked. It sits in the correct folder from what I can see (..program files/cakewalk/vstplugins) but no go. Do I have to delete any DXi versions of DP for this to work?? Any other suggestions appreciated, cheers!

This may help: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/product.aspx/Dimension-Pro However, I have the same problem in a different color. I would like to keep Dimpro 1.2 AND load 1.5. (not that I want to but it seems like the only work-around) Once you load 1.5, 1.2 is not availabe as far as I can tell. 1.2 is a dxi and 1.5 is a VST. So, if you have lots of projects with 1.2, then load 1.5, all your patch data will be gone from your project. Then you have to figure out what it was and re-load into 1.5. Same thing with Rapture.

Yep, that's right timidi. That's when it helps to note somewhere in your project exactly what Dimpro patch is used. I changed all the synth names in the synth rack to document mine - swapping them out for the equivalent in 1.5 was/is tedious, but 100% reliable!

Users were having this problem when X1 was first released. The solution was to uninstall the old version of Dim Pro and install the version that comes with the X1 disk.

Do you mean the patch names? If so, that's a whole nother kettle of worms, in that DP file browser doesn't take you to the patch. I have hundreds of songs. To open everyone, document, re-save etc. would take days-weeks. It is the same with a lot of synths though and even going 32 to 64. It's a different animal. If I load Kontact32 in Sonar 32 and then switch to Sonar/kontact64, I have to start over manually with patching. At least however, the 32 bit Kontact will open though. I just think it really sucks that the Bakers' migration from dxi-VST works this way. And, I saw no need to document what patch was used at the time. Why would I? It came up in DP if I wanted to know. Of course hind sight is 20/20.

Timidi, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I have lots of projects with 1.2 in them. I can still load 1.2 as well as 1.5 (1.2 is a DXi and 1.5 is a VST) but they're installed in different folders so you would think the additional content would look in the "....cakewalk/vstplugins" folder for the .dll version. I've looked at that link and have done everything correctly - i'm not running 64bit, still on 32bit.

OK lads, so if i'm reading this correctly from your replies, I have to uninstall 1.2???? I dont have 1.5 as a complete file, just the update patch. I have 1.2 on a dvd. I bought X1 as a download and just downloaded the 1.5 upgrade - NOT the whole DP 1.5. Also as you guys say, going into every old project and noting down the 1.2 sounds is a time waster - not sure I'm prepared to go down that path. Man what a drama, all I want to do is install the additional contect, surely this cant be this friggin hard!!!

Go download the X1 Dim Pro disk and install it after uninstalling the old Dim Pro 1.2 or 1.5. If you bought X1, you can download all the X1 disks. If it's not the Dim Pro that came with the X1 disks (that you have installed,) uninstall it, and install the Dim Pro from the X1 disks. Users were still having this issue with the Dim Pro 1.5 update downloaded from the Cakewalk Dim Pro support site. So, I say give downloading the X1 Dim Pro disk a shot. Uninstall any old Dim Pro and install Dim Pro from the X1 disks. That's the only solution I saw around here that worked. It appears this problem of Dim Pro not being installed correctly error, was experienced by users who had any copy of Dim Pro installed and then tried to install X1 and the X1 additional Content disk (there were posts reporting that that disk wouldn't even install after a user installed X1 but kept the old version of Dim Pro on their system.) Some users even had to start from scratch installing a fresh installation of Windows and only installing the complete X1 package to solve this issue. They didn't even install an older version of SONAR that included Dim Pro. To be honest, that's what I ended up having to do to solve this issue. I installed Windows from scratch, got Windows updates, and then I installed the complete X1 package. After I did that, all was working with very few issues, and this was back when X1a was the only X1 version out. I noticed that you're using Windows XP. I hope all goes well with you and X1, running that operating system, but I have seen more users running XP having more problems with X1 than users running Vista or Windows 7. I'm running Windows 7 Professional SP1. Oh, the problems we can encounter with software. :( Goodluck.

Anway, as you say, that's the software world we live in. OK, i'll go back into the Cake store and use another whatever gig of my monthly internet plan to download a fresh 1.5 version. This really sucks big time...........

I'm thinking if you get the X1 disk version of Dim Pro, it may solve your problem just by you installing that version. If that doesn't work, you have to decide to just get by with what you have working, figure out something else, stumble upon some other solution to get it to work, or start from scratch. The choice is yours.

One thing to be aware of. If you plan to uninstall any version of Dimpro, you MUST remove the relevant keys in the Registry, otherwise Sonar will just load up the wrong version.

Backup your registry before you start!!!!! If you don't know how, here's how: 1 - open up the Registry Editor (type regedit into the run command box) 2 - select File > Export. Give it a name and save it to your desktop If you do foul up the editing process, just run regedit again and select Flie > Import

Hey Dave, Yep, 8.5 still on the system and DP still works. The issue isnt that DP doesnt work anymore, i can still insert it into a project no problems (in fact I can insert both versions - 1.2 and 1.5) the issue is that the Sonar 'Additional Content' file wont load because it cant find the 1.5 version of DP (when in fact it IS there, AND in the correct file folder.) The workaround appears to be to uninstall DP1.2, clean up the registry, and install the complete 1.5 package - not the 1.5 upgrade file. I downlaoded V1.5 last night but i'm yet to go through the motions!

you'll lose access to your patch information that 1.2 would have shown you. I think I've given up on the whole DP/rapture nightmare of "upgrading". Ask yourself, "do I really need an upgrade of Dimension Pro"? What do you get? Some in tune basses. sheeesh, who needs that?

To clarify my point Dave, It is a matter of migrating the tunes I have which use DP 1.2. Doing so won't happen with 1.5. I just don't want to deal with that. Plus, the whole upgrade path to 1.5 is all very convoluted. I just choose to ignore it and try to make music. Actually, to that end, I'm back on 8.53 for now. 1.2 works in X1.

If you have any version of Dim Pro installed, uninstall it, then delete the registry keys listed in a post by Bristol_Jonesey in this thread, and install X1 including the Dim Pro that is included on one of the X1 downloadable disks. Do not install any version of Dim Pro that can be downloaded from the Cakewalk Dim Pro support site or that can be installed from any previous version of SONAR. Hope for the best. :)

Was not real sure, what was on the additional content disc, but after seeing the problems people were having after inserting Disc 2(Dim. Pro 1.5), and disc 4(add. cont.), I called Cake Support, told them I was upgrading from 8.5.3, already had Dim. Pro 1.5, he told me if I was not worried disc 4, which I wasn't, he had me install everything from disc 1, and that was it! Have had no problems since, up to X1c, about to go Expanded. But if you don't need the add. content disc, then just go with disc 1, and go, of course I always tell people I do very small projects, but have used Dim. Pro 1.5, from 8.5.3, and never had any problems. Just a suggestion for those to come.
