X1 Adds noise upon exporting audio

I have had this problem the last few days where X1 will add a click/pop at the beginning of audio that I export. The first time it sounded like someone tapping a microphone, the second time like a higher crackle. It's not present in the recording at all. I am editing a live show, and have 5 songs in this project. I cut out some junk between tracks, drop a marker at the beginning and end, and export between markers. Then I reopen in a template for mastering.

At the beginning of every clip, the same sound. A fairly loud pop. I have to fade in the beginning of each clip to get rid of it. Or, I can re-export, which sometimes fixes it. It's random and not really reproducible, but when it happens, it happens for every clip I export from a particular project.

Anybody have this? Ideas?

are yourunning 88.1khz? some synths dont like that... also, is your multicore processor red lining on first core ? try changing driver mode to asio for mix down... or wdm etc... midi and audio and synths have strange behaviors in different driver modes...i find..

My first thought would be to ensure you are marking and cutting at a zero crossing.

Thanks guys, I'll try a few things out and see what happens.

Stone House - it's not a zero crossing issue, I checked on that. I have markers before and after the segment I am exporting. They fall well before there is any audio, so it's nothing but blank timeline. The audio fades in after that. When playing the project, there is no pop sound whatsoever. Also, the sound is identical on every clip I export, right in the beginning.

I am running X1B w/ quick fix, 64 bit on Windows 7 64, all audio recorded at 24/44.1. No soft synths (though I may have guitar rig on a track). No heavy plugin load, very light CPU usage.  I am exporting "what you hear" but at 24 bits, using 64 bit engine. I'll try disabling 64 bit next, since I don't even know what that does.

Should I upload an audio sample?
