X1 Expanded and NI Maschine still not enjoying each others company.

Was gonna start a thread but thought I would just add on to this one. Having issues running these two together which is a pain because they are my main programs. Sonar seemed to become very unstable after the X1c update for me, which is frustrating because it seems to have gone down well with others. Crashing very often. I spent some time trying to track down the culprit and I'm still not 100% sure what is causing the issues. I got Sonar Expanded on Tuesday and did a new fresh install of X1, all it's updates and then Expanded. It seemed to be much more stable but has since started crashing again. I'm running Sonar 64bit and have Maschine 1.7 in both 32/64bit. When using Maschine in standalone I use 32 bit as most of my plugins are 32 and Maschine doesn't bridge plugins. I have removed the 64bit .dll from Sonar's VST folder leaving the 32 hence needing BitBridge. I've noticed that if it crashes while Maschine is running as a VST (tried with both multiple and 2x output) the BitBridge service continues running in Task Manager. If I reopen the Sonar arrange BitBridge doubles up. I'm forced to run these in tandem at the moment, exporting VST presets, MIDI sequences and audio back and forth, setting up channels fx etc. Not the streamlined workflow I know is possible when running Maschine as a VST. Any ideas about where I'm going wrong would be much appreciated. Thinking of a re-install of Maschine or buying Jbridge.

Sorry about Wall of text, something went wrong there. I suspect Maschine had a hand in it.

Go into PluginManager and see if Maschine has "2" for the # of Inputs in the Properties (in pluginmanager).  If not, set it to 2.

Restart Sonar, see if that helped.

Cheers, Trying out Jbridge at the moment, gonna change one thing at a time. Seems more stable so I'll stress test it and see if it sticks. Following that I'll try the outputs. I really need at least 8 out here otherwise there's no real point in using Maschine. I've read that there's issues with Maschine running 16 outs, but I had a remix project a while ago (pre X1c I believe) that ran 10 outs with automation and post plugin processing. Will report back if Jbridge solved it. Thanks again ba_midi.

Also, I clearly seem to be having issues with the forum's text box and formatting. Do I need to be using html tags?

Formatting is a problem in these forums if you're using Firefox.

It isn't the outputs that one needs to change (or at least check) in PluginManager, it's the INPUTs.  There was (may still be?) and issue with more than '2' inputs (due to the sidechains I think) with Sonar and Maschine.

This MAY have been cleared up with X1 updates, but I'm not sure.

The problem is if you are using a version of Firefox beyond 5.x.   This forum software has not been updated in a long time and is incompatible with newer versions of Firefox (and possibly other browsers as well).

I'm just using FF 5.0 and all is well, though I'd prefer to be able to stay updated with FF.

Since many of us use this forum often, it's a tug of war, so to speak.   CW really needs to address this; after all they want us to "update", they should too ;)

Sonar X1C 64 bi tand Maschine 1.7 64 bit here and had tons of issues before the upgrades but mostly it was the "2 input" setting.. works flawlessly here

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the replys and advice. Jbridge seems to have stabalized Maschine somewhat, crashes now being much less frequent.

Misread about the inputs, changing that now. Glad to hear it's worked already for you musicman.

Trying posting in IE, lets see if it works. I get what you say about the forum ba-midi, keeping up to date and all that. I used to post on harmony central guitar forums, they used a similar kind of forum to this. However, the upgrade was a bit of a disaster, loads of old threads lost etc. Bad design and coding stopped me going there, and I think traffic went down on the whole. Most probably much better now and I'm sure the die-hards stayed thorughout, but it was a good demonstration of how easy it is to mess these things up.

    Thanks for the help.
