This worked ...... To roll back from a QuickFix build, do the following: Navigate to the location you have SONAR installed. In most cases this is C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Version or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Version Open the "Backup" folder and then open the Folder titled with the date you ran the QuickFix installer. Contained within should be a folder titled the version number that was backed up. Example: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\Backup\12082011\Version_18.1.0.425 Select the contents in this folder and press CTRL+ C to copy them to your clipboard Return to the folder SONAR is officially installed to. Example: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer Press CTRL + V to paste the contents into this location. If prompted with the message "There is already a file with the same name in this location", select Copy and Replace. SONAR X1 Producer Expanded only: Navigate to the location where your Softube Saturation Knob is installed. In most cases this is C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Softube or C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal\Softube Delete all of the contents of the "Softube" folder (including both the "Saturation Knob.dll" as well as the "Backup" folder). The X1d installer will create a new Saturation Knob.dll file for you. NOTE: If you have disabled "Scan for VST Plug-ins In Startup", you may have to manually re-scan your VST plug-ins by going to Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings and clicking [Reset All VST Plug-ins] and then clicking [Scan VST Folders].

I honestly can't help you, I don't recall what #s went with what! I just had to roll back the hotfixes, copy, paste, it asked to Copy And Replace, clicked on that, and it started Wizard to re-install. Sorry, this sucks for a lot of people.

Problem people were having was not copying contents, and just the folder itself! Me included, all good now! Interestingly enough, when I figured out what CW was doing with the Quickfix installer, I actually chose to back up the entire folder(s) just in case. So I actually did copy the entire folder back and not just the contents. Go figure.

ohh My Goodness!! Why not just have an update that will over write the files and appy the correct settings regardless of if it were a quick fix or an update. Just apply and make it work. What is with these roll backs and all the copying and pasting. One update one install period! Oh by the way, my update worked when I installed it. Peace

Jesse G is absolutely correct. After this wait, having users of various levels of PC experience mess around with hotfixes etc is wrong (to put it mildly) . This update should install just as easily for those of us who kept up to date with our hot fixes. This is absolutely ridiculous. Plus I've been hunting around looking for the install instructions, ended up looking and finding them on the forum. Not good enough!!! I've always tried to be positive amongst all the snippy lil haters here but this is highly annoying. Anyway I'm gonna muddle thru with the install now...

I followed the instructions installed the file with build 319 and I still get the error message. If I try to open Sonar PDR Expanded it asks for a registration number. When I paste the registration number I get a message that it's not correct. Any help would be appreciated. Rocky

having users of various levels of PC experience mess around with hotfixes etc is wrong in which case these users should, in my opinion, NOT be applying any sort of quick fix to start with! They all come with a warning from Cakewalk that you should only install them IF they address a specific issue that the quick fix solves.- I have absolutely no time for anyone who just downloaded the update and ran the .exe without a) reading the instructions, or b) doing a backup before starting. This is SOFTWARE we're talking about - anything that can possibly go wrong WILL go wrong.

F.W.I.W........ I did read the instructions, read many posts and created a system restore point. Still no love here and Sonar is unuseable at this point for me. I must admit I'm not very tech savy but I haven't had problems like this ever. I've been a Sonar user since version 1. Rocky

Another dumb question.. I alreday had build 425 so I didn't need to roll back my version but, did I still need to delete the contents of the Softube Saturation folder or is this only required if a version rollback was required? I installed the update and everything is working fine. Was there an update to the Saturation knob? I didn't see one listed.. I did read the instructions but - in my opinion - I don't think that's clear.. I can't tell if that Softube paragraph is part of the "To roll back from a quickfix build, do the following" section or, if it's a separate, required section..

Hi Everyone, If you're having problems installing, can you try following the updated instructions posted the the X1d article? There's a .pdf with updated instructions that goes more in depth. To clarify, the softube part is a continuation off the QuickFix rollback process, hence why the step numbers continue sequentially. It is only required for SONAR X1 Producer Expanded customers however. Sorry for the confusion on that. In any case, please try following the instructions. Keep in mind that if this is absolutely not working for you because you have removed your backup files after installing a QuickFix, you could always uninstall and re-install SONAR. I'm willing to bet you could accomplish this faster then any of us could reply Best regards,

Thanks Ryan! So to be clear, I didn't need to do anything with the Softube folder since I was alreday on build 425, correct?

dlesaux Thanks Ryan! So to be clear, I didn't need to do anything with the Softube folder since I was alreday on build 425, correct? Correct. If you didn't install the QuickFix, then you don't need to really go to this folder. If you did delete the Saturation Knob.dll file, however, no big deal. The SONAR X1d installer will install a new Saturation Knob.dll if it's missing.
