X1 Experts using Superior Drummer 2 - need help desperately!
Can anyone out there give me a step by step instruction on how to get Superior Drummer 2 to work? I can get all other soft synths to work but not Superior. I can load it in the Synth Rack - kit my midi keyboard - but it makes no sound - I can see it is recieving signal though.... Also when I go to drag a midi groove - Sonar tells me it cannot find the file. SD2 works fine in Solo mode - no problem. In the interim while I get this to work in Sonar - I have been using SD2's EzyDrummer to create a song. I guess once I get the two programs talking to Sonar I should be able to drag and drop a whole song into Sonar from Ezyplayer? I'm in Brisbane Australia and am prepared to pay good money to get someone to come over and take a look at my setup and fix. Hope there is someone out there that can help!! Thanks heaps

Does the meters in Superior's mixer show any life signs when you try and play with it? Also.. How are the outputs configured in the superior mixer? Maybe you have no audio tracks in sonar that are configured for the outputs of the superior mixer?

Make sure you turn on the Input Echo button on your Superior Drummer midi track. Also you must run SONAR in administrator mode if you are in Win 7.

Did that - made no difference. Has it got anything to do with where the Superiour Drummer librariers are installed? I just used the default ones. I get sound when I use Superior Drummer with my Sonar VS version that came with my VS100. Do you want me to post a video on what I am doing? Would that help?? You seem to be a bit of an Oracl on this sort of stuff. Cheers mate

If something comes up as "not loaded" the sample isn't loaded for the drum that your striking. Where you have the libraries installed only matters if you have not told SD where those libraries are. You must tell it where the samples for it are in its options. If you have installed them other than in their default location, SD won't know where to look for them. For example, mine are not in my c:\program files\toontrack directory. Mine are on an external hard drive, so I had to tell SD where they were. It wouldn't load up any sounds for me until I did this. So if you haven't told it where the sounds are, this could be why you are having this issue. I thought Dave actually nailed your problem down when he said to make sure "input echo" on your midi track was enabled. You have something else going on here that is very strange though. You claim you can get sound out of SD, yet you're saying "not loaded" in read comes up which means the sample has not been loaded for that particular piece. If they ALL say that, it has to be a sound library issue.

Phajo Can anyone out there give me a step by step instruction on how to get Superior Drummer 2 to work? Are you running 64 or 32 bit Sonar? Have you installed the latest Superior Drummer updates? If you are using 64 bit Sonar and the 32 bit version of Superior the samples will not load. You need to install the 64 bit version which is in the latest Superior Drummer patch.

The things that come to mind are: -As mentioned, latest updates. I cannot stress this enough. -If it works fine in TT solo, then there is a good chance something need to be updated (yes, stressing a point :D ) -you could try going to "settings" and see if that needs to be set up, but I have a sneaking suspicion that and update could be the reason....thus negating. There is no reason why the .dll would not load the sounds vs the standalone if there is an issue with the library. Please update and if THAT doesn't work, I'm certain we'll be able to troubleshoot it. One other thing (if you have not already) is post the issue in TT forums as someone might have a suggestion there.

Danny Danzi You claim you can get sound out of SD, yet you're saying "not loaded" in read comes up which means the sample has not been loaded for that particular piece. If they ALL say that, it has to be a sound library issue. Doesn't he mean that he gets sound from it as stand alone and the message about "sample not loaded" is within Sonar? It may be one of these things that are mentioned here above. So.. After you've checked that you have the latest version there's another thing you should to, just to rule out all obvious errors: Click the "settings" button in sd and make sure that sd finds your installed libraries. I don't know how much you've used sd but in the lower part of the settings screen you can select the different available libraries from the drop down menu. (All libraries show in that drop down menu whether you have them or not) For each one that ds finds there is a green check mark next to the "path". Otherwise it's a red cross. Since the message "sample not loaded" shows this is a good place to start.

If TTsolo can find the samples then Superior Drummer knows (via the registry) where the samples are. However, that doesn't mean SONAR is loading the proper Superior Drummer DLL. This could be caused by; Multiple versions of Superior Drummer existing on your hard drive. Superior Drummer has been manually moved (see the first problem it is usually also present.) You are trying to load the 32 bit version of Superior Drummer into the 64 bit version of SONAR. Bitbridge is not compatible with SD. Use JBridge or better yet, use Superior Drummer x64. If you have installed the 64 bit version of SD then it is likely that you have not set up a scan path properly in SONAR x64 and the condition above is in play.

I can't use SD as a stand alone on my system. If it's possible, it's not something I have ever looked into because I only need it as a VST on my end.

It's TT solo, it's a free download. I like using the standalone sometimes but usually it's within a host. @OP: wha happen? where did he go? I thought this was desperate need?
