X1 & Groove 3

The more I look into the X1 the better I seem to understand it now.
Managed to record two full music tracks and mixdown on X1.
The SonarX1 Explained video by Groove 3 really helped shorten the learning curve.
For those who are having problems getting to grips with this new development I would recommend the video.

I have entered into the X1 one with the mind of completly learning a new product and not comparing it with Sonar...  this way I dont get frustrated beleiving it to be able to do the same things.  I learn on one machine and use the old Sonar on another for critical tasks.

There are some really cool features in X1.
Struggle a little with the screenshots but think that is getting sorted now.
As I saidtake a look at the Groove 3 video...  many of the questions that are being asked on the forum are covered in the video screen captures.

Wishing everyone a Great New Year
Kind regards

Gary

Yes, we're very fortunate to have this window of time when we can see the excellent tutes for free.  Very good stuff.

Just be aware that what's shown in the Audio Snap video isn't currently working.  Something was broken in the code between the Beta version of X1 shown in the vids, and what was finally released.

The videos are just so clear. I also find that opening up a Word doc and typing out bullet point reminders is really powerful - just reading over the notes time and again helps to get the best bits into my ageing brain. Unlike some I absolutely love keyboard shortcuts and there's a lot of these in the videos. Once you know 'em it really speeds up work flow.

Scott - I bought your Sonar 8 book when I first bought Sonar - still my bible, but are you bringing out a video too this time? Seeing stuff demonstrated in front of your eyes is the quickest way to learn, and it would complement a book nicely!

    Cheers, Bill

    Hi Bill,

    Thanks very much!

Yes, after the SONAR X1 Power book ( http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks ) is done, I'll be working on a video.

Great news that you're looking at video.  I've used both your Sonar and Sound Forge books and you explain things well.  Please consider doing a *production* video for X1.  Groove3 has already done a great job with the entry level tutorial video, but nobody has shown a production from first drumbeat to final mix.  Teaching stuff in context is very powerful and very lacking for Sonar users.

If you have access to Groove3, take a look at the "Producing Music with Pro Tools:  Pop" for an example of what I'm talking about.  If you did something like this with Sonar X1, I think you'd be the toast of the forum!

These Groove 3 videos are fantastic. I agree completely that Cakewalk should have included these as an available download with X1. I think it sure would have made the transition easier for some of the people who are confounded by the differences between X1 and 8.5.

Thanks, guys! I don't have any details to share yet, but I think you'll like it.

It'll work best if you read the book first to get a good basis for X1 and then move on to the video.

Anyway, not there yet... I'll keep you updated.
