X1 HSH7XL Query
Hi Everyone I have a query, If I upgraded to X1 Studio, would some of its program instruments and effects populate into SHS 7xl? I ask because I like the SHS 7xl, I am used to it and am happy with, I fear X1 may be a bit to complicated for me yet!! but wondered if some of the effects and instruments that come with it may be used in 7XL (if that makes sense?).. Any help in deciding are most welcome.. Many thanks.. Karl

well ill tell you this...i has shs 7xl..and loved it for its simplicity..i moved up to x1 essentials and it was a leap...but not what youd think..you wouldnt be overwelmed..i think you actually would be wow'd.yes some plug ins youll be able to use..and some studio instruments.but not all of them.i can say for sure because i have shs7xl in 32 bit...my x1 is 64 bit so im not sure if those instruments would migrate..they might..i just dont know enough.hope this helps

ps...hey you can also do what i did..i migrated slowly..i was still using 7xl to make prodjects...yet at the same time every night i wouild spend a few hours learning x1..lets put it this way also..you think it may be complicated...but it the long run it will be easier to set up and maintain projects..remember not everyone likes change...but sometimes you need to at least get a look whats in the next room..

The VST plug-ins should work, however, some of the integrated functions like Matrix View, Audiosnap or V-Vocal (these may be Producer only) will not.

I've been viewing some of the X1 forum comments on the new program and it sounds like there are big problems with it. I'm really not sure if I would be wise to upgrade yet, there is talk of an X1b coming out to fix the problems, does anybody use X1 at the moment who can give me an idea of how it's working and when X1b will be out? Thanks Karl

I have X1 Producer and use it. when I first got it , it was very unstable and I lost work because of an incompatibility issue with either my bios or Kontakt (tech support was leaning toward kontakt). X1 is very different from SHS and will require a new learning curve. it is very different from Sonar 8+ as well and I am still learning it. but it does work on my win7x64 system under either 64it or 32bit and has been working fine. there are some bugs, yes, and some of them bother me as well, but X1b will be out very soon (I have heard from a reliable source that it will be out in about a week now).

Nice one Beagle, I have no doubt Cakewalk will sort things out with X1b, I will make the leap when its done I think, I have seen Sonar 8.5 on Youtube and it is mind boggling to say the least but X1 seems to be a more user friendly interface

And you have to remember that people who are having problems with it are more likely to complain than people for whom it works perfectly. Think of the thousands of folks who didn't go online to tell how well X1 is working for them. I don't have it, so I can't say whether it's good or bad, but SONAR Home Studio 6 works great!

Yes I guess so, however it is quite public knowledge there are some issues as they are creating a patch with X1b but I appreciate there may well be many many users who are working with it and having no real problems, I will await the update to X1b. I also noticed a descrepency in the pricing, on the store upgrade page from home studio it says £249 but on my account page it is saying the upgrade is £289?

you have SHS7XL or SHS7 (non-XL)? if you have SHS7XL then you may have to call cakewalk to get the correct price - or call Roland UK (which I think is in Ireland, IIRC) and they would be better able to help for European pricing update.

I'm not sure we'll know the answer to that until x1b is released and the info will be with the x1b release.

Pretty much every program I've installed over the years asks you to go to their web site and check for updates.
