X1 & Kontakt 4--pops and clicks

Just got Kontakt 4, and  it's working, but I'm getting pops and clicks.  Raised the buffers, but no difference.  I noticed the "disk" meter in Kontakt is maxing out, sometimes hitting the red, although X1 is not. CPU meters are fine. I'm using the same drive for samples and audio--think another drive is the answer?

Did you ever get a response to this or figure it out?  I'm getting the same pops and clicks and have a very similar setup.  Thanks in advance for anything you can share...

Perhaps Sonar doesn't read the Kontakt disk activity and the HDD is getting maxed out.

I recall having issues with X1 and Kontakt 4 - but I can't recall what they were. However, I recall what fixed them. I did a bulk re-save. It fixed whatever was wrong and dramatically reduced loading times. Worth a try?

Try going into Options and increasing the default preload buffer size.

One of K4's enhancements was the ability to load samples in the background. That's a nice feature, but it can mean that if you hit the spacebar immediately after opening a project, Kontakt may still be loading the library. It's good to wait a minute before playback to give your sample-based synths time to finish loading up.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

You're right - from my experience - this is the main reason that Kontakt (or other samplers) get chocked.
Using 70ms VST buffer is the solution. If you using very heavy libraries, sometimes 50ms is not enough even if you have fast computer with fast HDDs and fast RAM.

Best to wait till the samples are completely loaded (they continue loading in the background) If you're seeing the red light it just means it's probably still background loading. Either wait or if it's stuck like that, then re-load all samples. If they're not done loading they might not play or might pop and crackle.
