X1 LE or X! Essentials Upgrade?
Have played around with both Ableton Live Lite 8.2.2 and Sonar 8.5 LE both were part of oem bundle with Asus D2X sound card on my Puget Systems built box.
Nice bundle with more music apps dimension le, project 5 le and more...
So having started with earlier versions of the 2 main ones (ableton live 7 and sonar 6) i keep on machine and updating when free or inexpensive updates came out cakewalk sent me an offer I may take them up on but not sure what direction as it's $59 for X1 LE or $79 for X1 Essentials.
LE touts it's mp3 plugin i would have hoped that would be also part of essentials.
Can a more knowledgable user maybe make a recommendation.... I play with loops and such it won't be anything I do other than to play around as my photography keeps me busy (nikon D700 and nikkor 24-70 f2.8, niikkor 70-200v1 f2.8 and nikon SB900 flash). I would like to learn as i am a music freak and may have another box built and keep this i7 940 with 12gbs HyperX @1600 for photography and audio work. Knowing full well the audio card is far from a pro card it seems to work for me at this point.
One last point, I clean install my boxes about every 6 months to keep a clean computer (have it down to a quick science not taking long at all considering the size....
Will I be able to just clean install either upgrade (assuming I put in reg code, etc) on formatted HD or will I have to add last version than upgrade? Previous clean installs have allowed me to start with just last update as long as I put in registration correctly. My reasoning is less clutter in the registry and so many updates now are full versions once registered.
