X1 PE 64 bit, Firebox - Why can't I record in 24 bit?

Not really a newb with Sonar, but I've always wondered why presonus says the Firebox is 24 bit / 96 khz, when it absolutely will not work 24 bit with X1. 16/44.1 all the time. If I change it to 24 bit it automatically goes back to 16. If I change it to 96 khz, it goes haywire and crackles til no tomorrow.

Is it capturing audio in 24bit then dithering it to 16 when it gets into the computer? Do I need a firewire card that can support 24 bit? Does it even matter if I can even get it to go 24 bit because of the fact it's almost inaudible difference?

I've got Win7 64-bit. Using WDM Drivers, 10 ms overall latency.

I mean, it doesn't really bother me, I just wonder why I can't when the interface clearly says on the front panel 24 bit / 96 khz.

Any tips?

EDIT: Got ASIO4All to work, fixed a bunch of problems, still technically not 24 bit though. Heres a screenshot of what I mean:

An incongruency! What does it mean!? Lol

What do you see if you click the "ASIO Panel" button?

Well, as to bit depth, there's only an option to check "Force WDM drivers to 16 bit", and that's unchecked. There's the generic buffer size slider, latency compensation, you know. Nothing else really.
