X1: Upgrade or Full version

This is hopefully a straight forward answer....

I have just bought and downloaded the 'UPGRADE' for X1 Producer (from 8.5.3). Is this 'Upgrade' a complete version or do I have to have 8.5.3 installed first?

I have been having a few issues with 8.5.3 so a complete virgin installation would be preferable for me....

Thanks

    I can't remember.So I won't give ya false hope!!

But you don't have to uninstall 8. X1 will install itself to it's own folder. Essentially making it it's own program!! I still have Sonar 7 - X1 on my machine.

Now if your having problems with 8, might wanna do a OS "virgin" (as you say) install. I call it a Clean install!!

Did you look at the installation instructions that CW gives? It'll tell you there. But I'm almost positive that you don't need 8 installed. You might need it Ser # though.

The "update" was a complete standalone when I bought it and I assume they have not changed this. Thank goodness they don't use the ridiculous system that MIcrosoft uses for updates. I need 3 OS packages if I want to install Win7x64 PRO. Cakewalk has kindly spared us from this lunacy.

Thanks Guys... I think it was like the 'upgrade' from Sonar Home Studio 7 as I could run in Full both Home Studio and Producer. So it seems the 'upgrade' is only in the price terms and you get the 'FULL' version of X1 maybe?

Well only one way to find out ... I think I will get on and install it!!

the updates (x1a and x1b) may or may not be included in the latest download of sonar x1, i don't know because i downloaded the original version and then the updates as they came out.

either way, be sure that you install the updates.

yes good point... I was assuming that I would have to 'patch' X1 once installed but I will check the version no once installed....
