X1 and Fireface 800

I posted this on another thread reporting some similar issues with a UC, but as I went on I reallized it warrented a new thread. I am having issues with X1 and my Fireface 800. Am I crazy, or did I have more options previously in my audio panel with the 800? I currently cannot change the bit rate in my audio panel and my preferences in X1 will not allow bit rate, buffer number or size changes in the ASIO driver. If I switch to WDM the mentioned settings become selectable (bit rate, buffer number and size). Also, my audio panel reverts to 44K sample rate every time I apply changes in X1. Something wrong here? I have been getting some long latencies and digital distortion with even one track of audio recording at low gain settings. I am also experiencing the arming delay mentioned in a couple of RME threads here. I have posted these issues to RME and I understand they expect a new driver around April, but mostly concerning just the arming delay and driver sharing issues reported there. If someone is using the FF800 with no trouble in X1 on Win 7 x64, could you post your settings for me, including the options the audio panel is giving you? I've been using this interface for 2 years with Sonar without problems until recently. I moved to X1 and then to Win 7 x64 last month, I hope that is not the problem.

i have no issues with X1 and any RME interface.
you have to change your buffer etc in the rme control panel NOT in X1. its always been that way with Sonar.
also requires you close and reopen X1.

    ASIO is recommended

X1 routing is vastly different from older versions as well and takes some getting used to.

Thank you for your help. Can you tell me why there is no setting in the FF800 panel for number of buffers in playback queue? I don't even know what effect this setting has on playback. Also, I assume the Fireface has only one bit rate (24) since there is no place to adjust this parameter? Is there somewhere I can get a good explanation of all of the available settings in the audio section of the prefernces area? I am unsure of what settings would best siut my needs in the playback and recording page, the sync and caching page (reqad and write caching in particular) and I'm sure I don't want to mess with configuration file unless I learn the meaning and functions of these parameters. It really doesn't have to be dumbed down, I work with technology all the time and pick things up fast, but I have never dived in deep here before. Everybody learns this somewhere, so any help you can give or point me too would be greatly appreciated. I know this is fundamental and alot to ask, but I downloaded X1 and the manual I got with my original version (Producer 6) was rather light on content.
