X1 and Multiple Firewire Interfaces

I have posted this thread at the maudio forum as well just covering all bases. I am currently using Sonar X1 producer and have upgraded to the profire 2626 firewire interface. I was using the profire 610 and now that i have both i am trying to get them to work in unison in X1. They are linked through spdif and firewire obviously and all the inputs show up in x1 when assigning inputs to a channel. However no audio is being recieved by x1 when choosing these drivers. This exact same setup works fine in propellarheads record. I get 12 channels of audio with 10 octane preamps. no issues no studder so I am assuming it is some weird querk with x1 interacting with theses drivers. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Sonar X1, Record 1.5, Reason 5, Profire 2626, Profire 610, Dell XPS Intel i7 3.4ghz processor, 16gb of ddr3 memory.

As long as your profire610 supports adat outputing, you should be able to use that ADAT lightpipe ins on the profire 2626. I have the profire and am currently running it this way into my vstudio.

I think you already understand this, but my understanding is that you cannot use multiple ASIO audio IOs at the same time, so you'd definitely need to have only one of them plugged in to the firewire and the other hooked up via the ADAT connections.

I've heard that even if your app will support multiple ASIO interfaces, they won't be synced up.

If they are linked through FW you don't need the spdif.  They both should be ganged together in the maudio softmixer, I would think.

As far as no audio being received by X1, it is probably a routing issue.  Turn off the 610 and see if you can get sound out of just the 2626.  SONAR "sees"  the maudio softmixer, which "sees"  the hardware in/outputs.  Once you have established one interface, try it with both.

I'll try one by one. Don't think its a hardware related issues though since i have access to all inputs in Propellerheads record and even adobe soundbooths multitrack option has no issue getting audio from both devices. I will tinker with the notion of it being a routing issue. I'll post back if it works. thanks.

I've never heard of anyone getting two entirely different interfaces in sync. It's not even always possible with two of the same interface.

    John,

Stacking separate interfaces can work but only if the company makes drivers to allow it.  Whether it works for the individual customer - well, one interface doesn't always work correctly so the probabilty of problems goes up logrythmically.  that is why ADAT is so handy.  The clocks have to be synced, but not the drivers.

This may be an obvious, but did you check your settings->Audio->Driver Settings and make sure that the Playback Timing Master and the Recording Master Timer are set to your interface?  It tends to act as you are describing when these are not set to the right device.
