X1 and Tassman 4 (2 entries inside insert-soft-synth menu, one won't run)

Hi,

I took advantage of the promo and purchase Tassman 4. It installed and run fine, both as stand alone, and as vst plug-ins.

However, there is one additional Tassman entry in the X1 soft-synth menu

Insert - Soft Synth (just below "Plug in Layout" options) listed as

AAS Tassman 4 (grouped together with TTS-1, Cyclone, Pentagon 1, etc..)

When I select this one as soft-synth, it failed to insert, reporting the message :

Failed to insert soft synt.
The synt may not be properly installed.

The other entry in "vst plug ins" submenu works fine.

Anyone got the Tassman 4 and having the same issue ?

I'm running all 64 bits, Win 7, X1c pro+expander and Tassman 4

Tassman installs both 32 and 64 bits, so could it be the one that doesn't run is for 32 bits ?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure by default the Tassman installer installs a dxi version which would not be 64-bit compatible, would it?

From the AAS website, Tassman is updated with native vst 64 bit since version 4.15. The current version is 4.16.

    http://www.applied-acoustics.com/downloads/tassman/

    In the C:\Program Files(x86)\AAS\Tassman\Bin
folder, there are both exe and dxi dll files, so I suppose the exe is for standalone, and the dxi dll is for 32 bits, since it's in the (x86) program files folder ?

Yes, the .exe is the standalone app, and the DXi will load only in x86 SONAR. You can go into Plugin Manager, and Exclude it so you won't see it in the list of available plugins.

That's what I meant - that the dxi would only be 32-bit.  Isn't that right?

Yes, that is correct.. from what I gather :

    C:\Program Files\AAS\VST Plug-ins\
inside this folder is both Synt and Effect dll.. so those should be 64 bits.

    C:\Program Files\AAS\Tassman 4\Bin
    correction :
    C:\Program Files (x86)\AAS\Tassman 4\Bin
inside this folder is the EXE (standalone) and Tassman4DXi.dll (32 bits)

Brundlefly (and also Cakewalk support reply) advise to exclude the DXi via Plug-in Manager, but when I open up the manager, under DXi category, I cannot see any Tassman entry as registered plug-ins, but I can see others such as TTS-1, Cyclone, Pentagon, and the rest - so, I cannot exclude it from the menu.

I assume that second path was meant to be "Program Files (x86)"...?

I any case, now that I think about it, I think x64 SONAR should automatically ignore 32-bit DXis, and not even show them in Plugin Manager. Something strange going on there if you don't see it in Plugin Manager, but you do see it when inserting synths. Do you maybe have the DXiShell wrapper installed or something?

    Brundlefly,

Yes the second path was meant to be "Program Files (x86)" ... edited and corrected now. Thanks.

About DXiShell wrapper, I did not manually install one...not sure if another program's installation could have done it ?

I'm also seeing a "CoyoteWT" that cannot be inserted as soft synth. This one pop up in Sonar X1 menu after purchased and installed Band-in-a-box recently. I ran BIAB separately in a separate portable HDD, not even sharing any VSTi  vice versa.

Could it be the caused ?  And similar to Tassman, CoyoteWT is not in the Plugin Manager as well.

Just an update, tech support confirmed the issue of Tassman is being registered as a DirectX object, but for some reason the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager is not detecting it. This shall be investigated further.

This is what my installation shows as well: When I click on the exe. file for standalone, I only get the 32-bit version. I don't have a 64-bit .exe file in my Program Files\AAS Bin folder.

Is this the same with the rest of you?
Or, do I need an update?

Yes, running 4.1.6 here. I do not believe there is a 64bit standalone version. No need for one, the 32bit version runs fine. There is a 64bit VSTi.

    I suppose that makes sense.
