X1 demo: forced to drive C...?!?

I'd like to give X1c a try so I downloaded the trial and tutorial exe's. But when I want to install the demo, I get no option to choose where I want everything to be installed: it is forced to being installed on the C-drive, in the Program files folder. I really can't have that due to various reasons.

Is there a way to change the paths? If not, I'll have to skip the demo. Which obviously would be a big shame.

I understand a demo is limited in what it can do but I totally do not understand this limitation... (I presume the full version can be installed anywhere you want to?)

Sonar 8.5 PE, Edirol FA-66, Behringer C-1. All instruments in my songs are VSTi's.

I don't remember if the full version can be installed on a different drive or not.  I always use C.

Hm, well... Maybe I just should get X1 without giving the demo a try... The upgrade isn't THAT expensive.

However, I noticed there is something new called Expanded. For what seem to be very few minor additions, I have to pay 39 euro's which is almost half of the upgrade costs to X1 itself. Isn't that a bit out of proportion (since it doesn't offer that much) or am I missing something obvious when it comes to Expander?

While checking out the Cakewalksite I also noticed X1 Production Suite is coming up. Maybe it would be better to wait for the pricing of the new X1 Production Suite: I suppose that one will save me some extra euro's: has anything been posted about the pricing yet? (O, wait, I just noticed the Suite also includes Z3TA+ 2, so I don't think that suite will save me money... )
    EDIT
About the Pro Channels (I started to wonder about this when reading about the new Expanded Pro Channel modules): what's the difference between using Pro Channel or simply adding (for instance Sonitus) effects to the track? Does using Pro Channels save resources? Or does it only saves you the time you'd otherwise spend on adding an effect...? Or are the Pro Channel effects (a lot) better then for instance the Sonitus ones...? Or...? I am used to using Sonitus effects mostly (for me they are fine enough), but maybe I should switch to simply using the Pro Channel...? Afaik I don't even have Pro Channels installed in 8.5... and the tracks in 8.5 also already have EQ built in (Sonitus again).

Hm, this topic is getting OT, sorry for that, but I don't want to start new topics for every question that comes up while checking X1 out...
    EDIT 2
Does some Cakewalk employee know if there is one of those nice deals coming up? Some time ago you could get various videos and stuff when upgrading to X1c: something similar coming up in the near future? Right now there aren't any nice deals going on afaik. I am a sucker for nice deals.

Hellogoodbye, SONAR X1 Expanded contains all the features listed HERE - the main difference between X1 Producer (a, b & c) and X1 Expanded is the new modular Pro Channel. This allows the addition of new modules as they come on line. The functionality has also been improved by allowing you to collapse modules and also by introducing vertical scrolling - as part of Expanded, you get the Softube saturation module.

While checking out the Cakewalksite I also noticed X1 Production Suite is coming up. That's correct, the Suite includes Z3ta +2 and the PC4K S-Type Expander/Gate module for the Pro Channel (both of which can be purchased separately for anyone who already owns Expanded).

    EDIT

Generally speaking, I'd say it's the convenience of having the Pro Channel modules available on every track and buss.

Or are the Pro Channel effects (a lot) better then for instance the Sonitus ones...? Or...? I am used to using Sonitus effects mostly (for me they are fine enough), but maybe I should switch to simply using the Pro Channel...? No, you don't have the Pro Channel module 'effects' in 8.5. As to whether the Pro Channel effects are better than Sonitus is really subjective and down to each individual user I guess.

I very much doubt that they'll give any advance notice of any upcoming offers and deals, that wouldn't make much business sense if you think about it.
    Anyway, hope that helped.

Thanks for the answers: it sure helped.

I think I will wait with my upgrade until prices for the Suite are published (which should be too long, I guess). Perhaps there wil be a special upgrade price too. I don't think it will save me money, it will probably cost more, but it might be cheaper all in all than upgrading to X1c AND Expanded PLUS the Expander/Gate AND Z3TA+ 2 now...

(BTW Quite confusing but also quite funny that the first Expanded expansion is an Expander. )
