X1 - disappearing Control bar
I bought X1 on day one and this is my first real problem. The control bar randomly disappeared last night and wouldn't re-appear. I have seen other people on this forum with the same problem but have not seen a fix for it - anyone? anyone? Bueller? Daryl

Be sure you have installed all the patches for X1 except the hot fix for patch a unless you need it.

Are you talking about it going all black? If so, just drag it to undock it, then drag it back into place and it will go back to normal.

subtlearts pretty sure that was an x1b fix. have you updated? Strange how, for me, the only time I've had the control bar disappear is since X1B. I right clicked where it should be and ticked Enable Floating to bring it back.

Thanks folks - yes I have all of the patches/updates etc installed - it has only happened to me once but I will try the 'Enable Floating' thing if it happens again. Cheers Daryl

I've had my share of X1 issues, however, I've never had this one. It seems so strange to me that some folks would have this issue while others don't...

X1b QF didn't mend it. The quickest way to make it return (on Windows 7) is to grab Sonar on the top edge of the GUI, move it a bit, and then release it. Grum.

Odd. Never seen it. Not denying it exists, you understand, just expressing that it is indeed odd that some get this and some don't. Some peculiarity of particular graphics adaptors? k

Some peculiarity of particular graphics adaptors? k I agree, it is odd. I'm thinking that there must be some commonality on the systems that are having the issue. Yes, it could be a graphics driver or some other conflict between the way SONAR paints that particular area and the underlying system. It's kinda like a screen saver is kicking in that only effects that area...yeah I know...crazy.

After doing a complete reinstall for different reasons my CB now doesn't disappear. But something that does still happen is that the Min/Max SONAR program icons in the top right corner ( that is the "-" and "little square") disappear if the SONAR progarm is not the "in focus" window for some time. Like if I'm using explorer to look for some files etc.

I really wonder what the explanation is for this one as it has shaken my trust in Cakewalk's ability to properly test their releases. I don't see how this could be acceptable in what is supposed to be a serious, professional tool that has already been serviced twice.

There are only 100 million billion trillion possibilites with all of the different hardware/software combinations out there. They should have seen this coming!!! By the way, I've had this happen to me, but it's been awhile. I always have the Control Bar up anyway, but I haven't noticed it in awhile. I am still on X1a for the record.

agree 101% with you Mixman - I keep wondering if most of the whining going on on here is 'user error'. This losing the control bar 'problem' is my only minor issue and the only real issue that I have had from X1 on day one through X1b. My PC is set up for audio - I have no other **** installed - no pretty stuff = no problems. Daryl1968
