X1 exp d and Vienna Ensemble 5/MIRpro 24 question....

Vienna Ensemble 5/MIR pro24 allows 24 MIR pro channels (Amazing sound for your virtual instruments).... Question: Set up preferences in VE5 server for 24 midi channels. Upon inserting the VE5, only 16 midi channels show up in sonar midi input area. 1 16 channel port. Is there any way around this limitation of Sonar? is it a Sonar limitation? (besides the obvious insert another instance of VE5... would like to keep all of the orchestra visuals on one stage. :) ) Thanks! ---The Blogospherianman

    No way around this.

Need to create multiple instances. Same problem with Kontakt and Play3 instances as well.

All the VSL software is VST3 compliant, whereas X1 is not. Hopefully X2 will be, then the limitation will no longer exist.

Yeah, I've run into the limitations of VST 2 with the WAVES pluginsas well. eg. Vocal rider is Amazing, however we cannot use the feature which allows for the music to be side-chained back in to Vocal Rider for the ability to automatically compensate for the music going up and down. And now with the vienna ensemble plugin, having to load a whole other instance just to use the other 8 MIR pro channels (It has 24 MIR inserts) is a pain. I would say if X2 doesn't have VST3 I'll probably look at other mixing solutions. The benefits are clear.

Are you using VE's Event Input VSTi as well, and do you need more than 128 channels? With the Event Input, you can send 8 ports of 16 channels from Sonar into VEP for a total of 128 midi channels. Plus, you can run the Event Input VST for audio routing as well... just offhand I can't remember the limits on that.

I'll try the Event Input, still would like to see X2 with VST3 as Waves plugins only have sidechaining in VST3. Thanks for your reply!
