X-1 hangs when opening

Sometimes when I open X-1b x64 it hangs at the splash for ever until I do restart. Its impossible to stop it in the task manager or process explorer.

Note that it happens sometimes.

I am still trying windows 7 x64 with 8gigs of ram. I also have Sonar 8.5 x32 installed.

Thanks in advance.

Happens to me occasionally too. For me it's always been a a disagreeable plug that's caused it. Try opening in safe mode (hold shift while selecting your project) to disable all or some of the plugs.

It happens when I click the short cut in the task bar or the desktop.

Does X1 scan for plugs on start up?

It does if you have it set to in the preferences.

SONAR automatically scans your VST folders for new plug-ins on startup, registering any unscanned VST plug-ins so that they become available in SONAR’s plug-in menus. You can turn off automatic scanning in Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings by clearing the Scan For VST Plug-ins On Startup check box.

    From the Sonar Help Menu.

Do you have a control surface that is usb-midi?
If so, when Sonar is hung that way, power off the surface. See if that frees
Sonar. I'm not sure what is going on but I have seen that behavior using the MS midi driver and a bcr2000.

Ok I have turned off scan at start up and after lots of opening X-1 all is working good.
    Very fast indeed.

The splash is their for 2 seconds.

I do have a Axiom 49 connected by usb using only Windows driver.
Do I need to use the MAudio driver?

    Thank you.

I would definitely install the newest M-Audio driver. I use an Axiom 49 too and I couldn't get the ACT functions to work without it.
