X1 hidden FX Bin

X1 Track Inspector has a chorus and reverb in a hidden fx bin (pun intended)

But serious; for me, it seems to work only with the TTS-1 synth.
By design it is meant to be MIDI fx only, or otherwise, a MIDI Plug.

Sounds really smooth with the TTS-1 regardless, just hoping it will work with all soft synths as Sonar states it is designed to be.

Is this working for yuh?

Well,  I'm not sure what you're talking about - but many "older" GM synths had their own chorus and reverb built in, (and maybe MS Wavetable and Blasters to this day) so Cakewalk has had the ability to control the "depth" of those FX in those devices for a long time.
However, if you have X1, then you should consider the "modern" method of using soft synths supplied by Cakewalk or others and adding FX after they are bounced to audio.

I'm using TTS-1 in a new project as we speak.

The Chorus, Reverb, etc in TTS-1 is used on the samples inside of TTS-1. They aren't Midi effects per say that I can tell?

I can't find where these hidden midi effects are you are speaking of?

TTS-1 is a great all in one GM Synth. Some of the drum and percussion samples are really nice. Using some sounds to create a Native American sounding beat right now. The only thing I could find that came close was TTS-1.

Here's a tip for TTS-1 ... if you're working with projects over 48kHz ... turn 'Light Load Mode' on in 'Systems' - 'Options' - 'Options'. 88.2Khz does not work, but 96kHz does when it is enabled.

Good luck.

To see what I am talking about you can go to page 517 of the User Manual or launch the Help File and search for 'Inspector Controls'.

Hit "I" to display the Track Inspector and highlight a 'MIDI' track.
One will see 2 rotary controls in the right pane, to the top. They are called "Chr" and "Rev".

The Chorus and Reverb you're talking about are part of the standard MIDI spec.  But nowadays we're much more accustomed to what are actually more accurately called "samplers," like Dimension and Rapture.  Synths which follow the original MIDI spec, like General MIDI synths, TSS-1 included, will have chorus and reverb which can be controlled with that way.

It was cool in its day, for a synth to have built in effects, in fact, synths that didn't have them were considered lame - but nowadays, as StoneHouseStudios pointed out, you really don't want to use those inferior FX that might be available on MIDI compliant synths and samplers.  You want to use audio effects either on the audio track outputs of the synth, or on the rendered tracks.

Thought this is something new. So, you are saying it is a useless endeavor on Cakewalk's part to make this part of X1

Hiya, Simpleman - --No, I didn't say anything close to meaning that I think it's a "useless endeavor" for Cakewalk to keep including these controls.  In fact, they'd be remiss if they didn't.  It's basic MIDI, and has been in Cakewalk for years.  I was just explaining what it was - and also tried to point out the reason it seems alien to users now is because it's very old technology.  We're used to samplers more than synths, and each one is built differently.  But there are still plenty of great hardware synths and software synths also which conform to the MIDI spec, and will respond to those messages if a user wants to use them.

Some people still want to work totally in the MIDI realm, and Sonar is still providing a way for them to do that, if they want.
