X1 is becoming Random.

My daughter is always using the word "random". After much study, I came to learn that the word was a substitute for many descriptive terms. Strange, unexpected, abnormal or unpredictable behavior is described simply as "random".
When I'm working with X1 I find myself starting to use the word. Don't get me wrong. X1 is great. Considering the depth of features and flexability, it should be #1. Still, I find the "random" behaviour of my system just dampens my enthusiasm. It never crashes and generally functions as advertised, but there's these "Random" problems. Examples include the track icons in TV being erased when scrolled 1 way and re-drawn when scrolling the other way. Opening saved projects is always a surprise. Error messages that mean nothing and random changes to settings from last time. In Console View everything works well and then I can't select any tracks to the left of the current track, until I first select a track to the right of the current track. My DAW has OCD.
This random behavior has been getting worse for me as I have scarfed up every possible update. Should I just flush the program and reinstall? It is really hard to say if it's X1 or ongoing Windows 7 X64 updates. I think I see the benefit of a dedicated machine.

Hi, John - I think your daughter's word, "random," is well chosen for the still not-quite-fully-baked status of X1.  I admire you wanting to be able to say that you think X1 is great and that you think it should be "#1"-- but you're talking about the--Random glitches which, despite all the updates so far, make it, IMHO, far from #1 and not so "great."  In-between the lines of your post, I have the impression that your honest opinion is actually the same.  You want to think it's great and #1, when actually - it just isn't.

We're all hanging in there, hoping that X1 at least catches up to the high level of functionality that its predecessor, Sonar 8.5 achieved.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I really am happy with the program. My music budget runs on vapors, so there really isn't any competition for me at that price point. I see real potential, My entire system was made for Cakewalk Sonar X1 x64. Software, controller, interface and monitors are all from the same company. This stuff should be floatin' my boat, not having me chase foo fighters. I'm at the point where I need to improve my monitors and Mic's. I can't afford to do that and re-tool my DAW at the same time. Before I move forward I need to know that Cakewalk/Roland will make their stuff work. No updates for the controller or interface to make them work any better
But I take heart. You should see the build quality I have to deal with in modern tube amps. Most of them are junk. The result of illicit relations between a tube amp and a Commodore 64. That's actually a bit of a fowl to the Commodore. You know my 'ol Atari 1040 running Master Tracks Pro and a room full of midi hardware, sounds modules and a 4 track made a lot more music than I've made in the last 10 years with high tech. Darwin was right and I'm being culled from the herd.
So sorry for the ramble. It's my first meltdown since IT came out.
