X1 on a Dual Core CPU?

Firstly, here's my system Intel Core 2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66Ghz 2.99 RAM I'm thinking of getting the X1 for an upgrade from my Sonar 8 for its superb features but I'm worried it won't do on my current system. So, will it do?

It should run fine. To be sure try the trial.

I ran Sonar for years on a single core CPU.

Get a Quad core, you'll be much happier.

    System requirements:
    http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/X1-Producer/feature.aspx/SONAR-X1-Producer-System-Requirements

Rule of thumb with any software's min systems requirements will work fine... but for for an easier life - use hardware that is twice as powerful than what is recommended (4 CPUS are better than 2, 4Gb RAM is better than 2Gb as an example).

I run x1 on a dual core, 2.2 I think.  Work good.  Just have  a 2nd harddrive to stream audio from.

Well - a T5500 on 1.66 GHz is not really a power beast. It goes well below the minimum specs for running X1. Also - only having less than 3 Gb of memory will not help either. I suspect you are using a laptop, and if that is the case you probably have 5400 rpm hard drives too, that can give problems with bigger samples that do not fit in the remaining memory (windows and X1, and probably your video card are using already a chunk of the memory). X1 can run, but be careful to keep your projects small with no high-demanding soft synths and do not use big samples. Just like others say - try the demo first...

In short, yes it'll be fine.
But as others here have already, said try the demo first =)
