X1 on more than one computer?

After a few years away from Cakewalk I came back & upgraded to X1 producer. If I wanted to run it on my Laptop & my Desktop would I have to purchase another package?

Gary,

you have a lot more.

Yup. I was very happy to learn that I am allowed to toss my purchase onto various computers. I want to hopefully get X1 running on my laptop just to do basic stuff so I don't have to set up/fire up my big rig every time. Might be able to make some live off the board recordings too now that I have a USB interface. I thought I was gonna have to use Reaper or something for that type of stuff. Lovin' the Cake. No really... LOVING the Cake.

That's great to hear. I bought my first computer to run Cakewalk back around 1989 or 90 when it was midi only. After years of upgrades I stopped at HS 7 & moved to Linux but could never get the work flow I could with Cakewalk. If this link works this was my first Cakewalk upgrade: http://www.oldnewtimer.com/photos/cake4_0.jpg

Didn't I have to check a box on installation saying "I understand that I may install and use this software on one computer at a time only?" or something like that?

yes.. which translates to.. as long as your not running BOTH your laptop + desktop at the same time, with sonar.. then not an issue.. so have 1 machine off while you use the other (or simply don't have sonar running on it AS WELL)

they realise a lot of folk who do music have 2+ machines.

Hmmm.. maybe it's time for the laptop to move from MC6 to X1 Studio... Thanks for the clarification.

As long as both machines are owned by you, you can run them as you like. I often have both the lappy and the desk DAW running..... although I rarely run DAW software on both at the same time because I only have one interface. I have my cake installed on 2 computers.

No, cake does not restrict you from installing and running your favorite DAW software on several of your personal computers at the same time. Use common sense.

They don't want you giving it to your best buds in the band so everyone can work on the project at home kinda thing...... and if you sell or give the computer away, cakewalk should be removed first.
