X1 producer expanded patches
I just downloaded X1 PE, and I tried to install the 'c' patch, but it didn't recognize my software. Support says I don't need to install previous patches, but have others had problems with these patches?

To install expanded you must install...... X1 Producer C + X1 Producer D + Producer Expanded from your store account + Producer Expanded D. If you have made mistakes in this procedure, you just might find yourself on the receiving end of, "full un-install -- complete clean re-install, from a manually cleaned registry. Btw, one of the bonuses in Sonar X2 is that this procedure has been simplified.. as mentioned in the Cakewalk Announcements..
too many lasers... Sonar = audio editing ninja of a music software!

The 'correct' installation sequence is X1 > X1c > Expanded > X1d This should only be done AFTER manually cleaning the registry

Support says I don't need to install previous patches, but have others had problems with these patches? If you only are working with Sonar Producer Edition then the expanded patches should not be needed, and I would definitely go with the advice from support.

noob here but I would be very interested in learning the settings in these chains so I can learn from what others are using them for in hopes I one day learn how to create my own plus I find it very educational to back ward engineer others work to learn from.

1) Completely un-install SONAR from your computer. This is normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of your project files or audio data. 2) Next you will want to open the Run Command a) In Windows XP this can be done by going to Start | Run b) In Windows Vista and 7 this can be done by holding down the ‘windows’ key and pressing ‘r’ 3) At the prompt type regedit and click OK. ***Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the File menu, Export Registry File. *** 4) Now delete the following Registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X1 NOTE that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back these up separately if you like, using Options|Key Bindings, Tools|SONAR Plug-in Manager, and Options|Colors. Hit F1 in these views for detailed instructions on how to do this. 5) Open the 'Run' command again. 6) Copy and paste the following into the prompt: %appdata%\Cakewalk 7) This will open your Cakewalk Application Data folder, right-click on the SONAR folder and choose rename. 8) Rename this folder SONAR X1 Backup. 9) Open the 'Run' command again and type msconfig Click OK and then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the window that opens. 10) Uncheck all items listed, click OK, then restart your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later time. 11) Then reinstall SONAR. Make sure to have any virus scanners disabled on installation. It is not required or recommended to turn off any windows services. 12) Start by installing X1. 13) Now install the X1c patch 14) Now install Expanded (if you have it) 15) Finally install X1d
