X1C download fails after over an hour downloading
C:\Users\*MynameHere*\Downloads\ProducerX1cPatch.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator. After over an hour of downloading X1C at a paltry 30kB/sec ish NOT HAPPY  NOT A GOOD START

I literally just downloaded and got around 6MB/sec. So I don't think it's their servers themselves, unless I happened to connect to a "good" one. But if so, I'm glad I did. Good luck.

doesn't help your download but I just downloaded the file in less than 7 minutes...so it may not be the Cakewalk server.

If http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ reports 4.87Mbps then I can't see it being my ISP throttling my bandwidth or the reported speed would be much less. Trying again - reporting 2hours 44minutes to go... RIDICULOUS!

I have "8 meg" broadband - last night the download was around 65 KB/sec! I did a broadband test afterwards and it came in at just under 1 meg. My broadband is junk - in 10 months I'm free to try another ISP and I can't wait. Grum.

like Brandon got the update within minutes, unlike him I'm in the UK.. sounds more like an issue with your provider or you setup. the 100% way to know is to use freedownloadmanager.. and it will latch on multiple connections and max them out till it's used all your bandwidth. if thats still slow, it's down to your end. dial up is / was about 40-50k.. so yep it's slow.. my first BB was 3 times faster. speak to your provider, I did about issues .. 1 company took over a load of providers in the past year.. I email the directors when I had issue, and amazing the effect that had ;-) . if your doing at peak hours, then they probably throttled the connection.. after 12 at night, is when I do any heavy downloading , normally updates.

I'm in the process of downloading 2.7 gigs worth of beta and I have two things going at once. Both are at around 260 KB/sec which is still sh!te compared to others are getting from their ISP, but much better than 65 KB/sec for just the one thing from here last night. Grum.

Y'all make me sick .... "downloaded it in 6 minutes" .... I'm on DSL.... and even with that, yeah I'm at one of the slower speeds but it's still pretty fast for general use..... It took me several hours for the main file, and a few more for the secondary file.... then another hour for the other 5 or 6 "smaller" files to download..... basically, for me it was an all day event to DL it. The first one said.... 4h57m remaining 5 minutes in.... I literally left the house, went to do a few service calls and came back to find it still DLing. Finally got it all.... Fortunately, I don't often have to DL such large files.... so it's a bump in the road. I was seeing 140kbs for most of it. But it did vary widely as low as 36kbs to over 200kbs..... also note that I have a daughter on the net with her lappy and my wife who leaves her FB page open just about all day. Shared bandwidth.

Herb, my download was just a single 359Mb file. What are all these other bits you're downloading? Considering how important this stuff is for you - get the daughter & wife offline while you're doing this. (Incidentally, mine all came down the same cable as the TV, which was on in 2 rooms and my son playing online games upstairs)

A few tips for the less IT inclined: 1) Regularly test your speed with www.speedtest.net If you speed sucks then: 2) (If using wireless) Plug in directly to your modem with Ethernet cable to rule out issues with wireless connectivity and/or separate router. 3) Reset your router and cable/dsl modem (good to do once in awhile) 4) Check your security settings (WEP, etc..). Some are actually faster than others with certain hardware and/or firmware versions. For troubleshooting you can completely turn off your security for a quick baseline speed test. 4) If you have others in the house using wireless bandwidth, try a dual-band router. For instance in my house, the studio is connected over an N-only wireless bridge that only I have access to. Everyone else uses the mixed mode network for general web browsing. Sure it's still all using your overall available bandwidth but it keeps it from getting needlessly and somewhat artificially bogged down. 5) If you've ruled out problems with your own network, and your speed still sucks, call your ISP and demand they give you the speed they guaranteed.

What was I thinking? Not enough caffeine in my brain yet obviously.

Brandon Ryan [Cakewalk] 5) If you've ruled out problems with your own network, and your speed still sucks, call your ISP and demand they give you the speed they guaranteed. My ISP has turned out to be employing a bunch of lying, evil, frustrating bunch of con-artists who I wouldn't dribble on if they were on fire. Unfortunately I'm in a contract and I'm counting the days until I can bail. Having said that, in the UK at least, internet speeds are sold as the maximum you will get, if you don't get anywhere near that then it's tough titties. Grum.
