X1b Interface.

Unfortunately I am force to buy a new interface as my Tascam fw1884 dosn't like Sonar. Right now Im using a stanton Scratch amp, in wdm mode. Sounds great but there's no monitor control, I was dealing with till X1b was released , and I was hoping my Tascam would work . bUt It dose not :( EOL  .. Enough with that time to move on.
Question is I'm going to buy a new interface, All I need is 1 in 1 out with a monitor control, Dose any one have any suggestions ?, Oh course I need professional sound quality. I did like the specs of the Mackie blackjack, everything about is prefect for me, I contacted Mackie a few weeks ago and there going to be releasing a new driver that fixs there pops and click for 64 bit Os , Nothing was mentioned about the 32bit Os in his email,  Im wondering has anyone on here heard or experienced the Blackjack with sonar X1 and 32bit Os, is it any good?  I appreciate all Your help .. Thanks John

You  might want to keep the Tascam.

Then you can blame it all on the interface and maintain an utmost confidence in the most successful version of SONAR ever.

Are you still running 32bit os?

If so, I would consider going 64bit if at all possible. And then make sure whichever one you do get has excellent 64bit drivers.

I personally went with RME Multiface II PCI-e because of their rock solid driver support. Unlike some other companies out there.

Well, my suggestion would be to describe the problem you are having with the FW-1884.

SONAR X1b works fine for me with my FW-1884.

What is your OS?  Which Tascam drivers are you using?  Legacy firewire driver?   Texas Instrument chipset firewire card?  Tried a new firewire cable?

Rio Jazz iM using 32bit, driver ver.1.80 Adaptec firewire card with Ti chipset, And No I have not tried a new firewire cable..  On brighter Note , Me being as stubborn as I am I haven't Tried WDM with the tascam and it ended up playing when it didnt in x1a.. I guess I'll use WDM mode for The Tascam.
Thanks for the suggestions guys for the cards..I'll Probably Will Stick with the tascam for now since I have my monitor control back..

OK, There are at least two differences.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit.  Also, I never was able to get ASIO working with this unit (from SONAR 5 on) and have always used WDM.  Thus I would not know if X1 caused any changes for those using ASIO.

Your driver and card sound good.  How about the 1394 driver?  Are you using the default Windows 7  driver, or did you (like me) change back to the 'legacy' firewire driver?

    To All,
There is a fix, check out my updated tutorial here:
    Windows 7 X1b and the Tascam FW-1884

    To Matt,
"Never able to get ASIO working with this unit"; that's interesting,
I've used both driver sets over the years with no issues.
Used WDM early on because I was also using an echo Gina interface as well.
Been running ASIO (lower latency) since going to Win 7, no issues x32 or x64; should work.

    OK, you have my attention.

I just read through your very thorough tutorial and set SONAR to use ASIO drivers.  So far, my screens look exactly like yours, and everything seems to be working fine!   Actually, I'm getting no glitches at all when running other programs along with SONAR (yeah, I know, don't do that, but I'm just talking about loading a browser while playing background music).

Thanks for getting me to look again, Tom!
