X1b - Still Crashes When Closing Project Files

I've been getting this crash detail when closing any project files. Does any of the jibberish below mean anything to any of you experts out there?
I've come to expect this so it's not really a major deal but I was sure that 1b would take care of it as it is mentioned in the fixes list.

looks like ntll.dll was your problem..were you adding a plug in when you crashed?

"ntdll.dll" can also be a very generic error from Windows.   For example, a bad sector, a corrupt windows system file, many things can 'trigger' the ntdl.dll error, so it's not that useful in this case.

But I would run a system check if I were the OP -- do the usual (Memory test, hard drive test, check cables) and, of course, make sure all important drivers (video, audio, etc) are up to date.

Oh, it actually might be a plugin, as you suggested, Charlie.

    That's a strong possibility there.

    I agree with ba-emidi.

Try running a chkdsk /r on your project drive (the drive you are saving to)

Removed all plugins from project file - same result.
chkdsk /r in progress...very slow... I'll post results tomorrow.

    Thank you all!

Are you sure all your drivers are up to date?

I will say - I'm noticing it take a LOT longer for Sonar to release the drivers when exiting than previously (X1 and A).  The MIDI icon in the system tray stays there quite awhile.

I've made no changes to my MIDI hardware and surfaces so I know it's not that.

I've had one crash on shutdown in the first 12 hours since loading X1B.  Not reading too much into it, but still not happy.

RESOLVED! I updated all drivers and tried chkdsk and memory tests to no avail, but in browsing for another issue with track templates I read in ba_midi's My first X1B crash post to try to Shift-Open projects to "refresh" the plug-ins. This did the trick!

For anyone else that runs into this issue- quoting ba_midi's post:

Go to FILE OPEN in Sonar, but hold down SHIFT when you choose/click the file to open.

It should prompt you about loading the plugins.

By saying YES to ALL, you will in effect load them all but with some cleansing mode so to speak.

I suggest this only to determine if there was project corruption.   This may only be one way to debug it, but for now it's worth a shot.

Makes me wonder why isn't this the default method for opening projects (i.e. do whatever refresh occurs when there's a shift+open whenever you open a project).

I can't even get that far.   First thing X1 complains about after loading all of the plugins is that it can't load one of the plugins in the project, usually Omnisphere or Kontakt 4 and then not-so-helpfully loads it without them loaded.  If I first open a new project, insert these plugins into a blank X1 project, they load fine, and THEN I can load my 8.5-era project.  If I then add an instance of say Kontakt 4 to this 8.5 project, however, I can't engage the transport to Play, nor can I get the audio engine to start.
I guess this isn't too big a deal, because these are programs from obscure companies like Native Instruments and Spectrasonics that no one has ever heard of.
The list of workarounds I'm having to do to even open and function in X1 is growing...Open project A to see which plugins won't load. close project, open new project B load those plugins, close project B, launch project A while holding shift, allow it to load all plugins.  All good, but  don't add any new plugins to project - it has to stay exactly like it was in 8.5 or you can't play it back.  The last project I tried to add another instance of Kontakt gave me a PANIC error and then SONARPDR completely crashed.  This same PC is relatively flawless with 8.5 (and these unedited tracks except the C++ runtime errors that started after X1 install), so I am pretty much resigned to going back to 8.5 to do actual work and spare myself nearly constant hurdles and aggravation at every turn in X1.

Since updating to X1b I have had ZERO issues in shutting Sonar down... prior to this update, 100% of the time, SONAR would have some issue with shutting down, mostly to do with bitbridge or jbridge.  FIXED now.

Also, I noticed for the first time that I can export audio cleanly... prior to the fix, my audio would export but SONAR would go into a NOT RESPONDING mode.... FIXED now.

All in all, X1b looks like it did the trick for me... sure, there are some little things that still need addressing but I can work now without REBOOTING my PC during my sessions. Prior to this, leaving SONAR equalled a RE-BOOT... creativity buzz kill.

Good question Funkybot - re: why not refresh plugins every time the project opens?

When I used the SHIFT-Open method it caused my screenset to default but other than that I don't see any differences.
This should be preference feature, as long as it doesn't mess with the project screenset.

i could be wrong but it sounds like your crashing cause your using a plug thats not bridged properly
