X1b Who's going to upgrade right away?

I'm right near the end of a project in X1a, so I will wait to upgrade to X1b until I finish it.

What about you? Are you gonna wait and see, or dive in head first?

Since I have reverted back to 8.5.3, when the X1b patch is released, I will dive in head first to experience the great results of the CakeWalk staff fixing all of the problems we were having.

Ditto.  I have nothing to lose.  I haven't touched X1/A in months (been using 8.5.3 and other hosts), so there's no loss if X1B doesn't cut it.   I doubt that will be the case, though.

I haven't had much of an issue with X1a. But like the majority here, I don't have much to lose by jumping in to X1b either. So I wait........

Weren't the ides of March three days ago?

At any rate, I'm in immediately. X1a is just used for "screwing around" projects right now since it's problems make using it for mission-critical work a no-go. I'll install the patch immediately and see if it's fixed enough things to start using it for heavier stuff. After a thorough backup of course.

There's no criticality to my recording, it's a hobby that I spend a bit more money on ;) than normal things, but I will definitely upgrade to X1b, I don't think it could be any worse at this point.  Being in the IT/development field, I think the Cakers are doing everything to shore up the bugs and quirks and it'll be ok when it's done.  There isn't a single application in the world that runs 100% right out of the box (at least for most users), it's a matter of degree.  Seeing the major changes that occured post-8.5, I think they did a great job.

UPGRADE! YOU GOTS NOTHIN TA LOSE!

Wonder if a completely clean install is best?
I'm thinking that is what I should try with 1A; just nuke EVERYTHING - registry, etc. - and start over.

It's interesting.  I, too, have lost some trust in CW and do think this was a cynical release approach.  BUT I also know it's their flagship product.   They have to make good not just for us - but for their own well being.

    That works for me ;)

Usually there's a mad rush to download an update the first few days, and the server get overloaded and takes forever to download.  Therefor, I'm going to wait a few days until the traffic jam is over, watch the first returns come in on this forum, and then make the plunge.  X1a is working well for me as it is.  Still, I'm looking forward to X1b to iron out the few bugs I've experienced.  Who knows, maybe by this time next week.
