X1b patch splash screen says 64-bit even in 32-bit SONAR. Anyone else see this?

I just noticed something odd:

Ever since I applied the X1b patch, the "About Sonar" screen in my SONAR X1 32-bit install says "SONAR X1 64-bit".

(I never installed the 64-bit version, on either of my two installs.
One is Windows XP Pro, the other is Windows 7 64 but SONAR is in the Program Files (32) directory.)

[Edit: Referred to the About... display as the "Splash" screen. Apologies. It's the "About" display that was wrong.]

It doesn't make any sense to me? Almost all major plugins have update to x64bit version.. And those few that still are in x32bit, can you please tell my one 32bit plugin that doesn't work in SONAR bitbridge or Jbridge bitbridge?

I hope that next version of SONAR X2 from Cakewalk will totally end the x32bit version of SONAR and release a x64bit version only. Windows 8 will only come in a x64bit version..

Well you answered your own question when you said "Almost all ..." And if Cakewalk stopped supporting 32bit I suppose you would complain about their lack of compatibility.

And people wonder why the forums have been dead lately. It's garbage like this that get's so old people just give up and move on ... speaking of which ...

    Thanks,

Rewire is (for example) one of the main reasons to use the 32bit version.
You imply that the 32 bit versions is only for old-fashioned users with legacy computers.
Well, there is a small trace of idiocy in there.

Are you using Panu's mods? Could it be a problem with that? My SONAR (currently with no Panu mods) doesn't show anything at all about 32 or 64 bit on the splash screen.

There is a wrapper out there that allows you to use ReWire devices in 64 bit. Not as flexible as ReWire, but at least it's a start.  I also do not see the splash screen, but I'm not using panup's mods (which are quite awesome).

I get the same splash screen - this also shows if you look under Help/about Sonar. I'm using "Darkside" mod if this makes any difference.

EDIT: correction - I had another look and my splash screen doesn't mention any bit number, but the "HELP/About" definitely says 64 bit, even though it's the 32 bit version.

a couple things here..first off. i did not hear any mention of him using panus mods..i think hes just talking about the normal x1 splash screen.i use panus mods and the only thing i see is the name of the mod and the version and what bit it is your using.which is normal to me.

Install darkside 1.30. It shows SONAR bit depth correctly in a splash screen in 32 bit system, too.

They (rex files) work because Cakewalk and Propellorheads collaborated on updating the rex.dll to 64 bit. It has nothing in particular to do with SONAR x64 and BitBridge.

I use 32 bit SONAR for some occassions when neither BitBridge or jBridge work and that is for MIDI plugins that are not native 64 bit. I've not found a wrapper that works.

    Funny...

I replaced the splash screen with my own, so I didn't see it...

...until I opened the "about Sonar" button to verify the quickfix 246.

I see there it reports 64 bit even tho I'm only 32bit!

As to the argument regarding switching to 64bit? I would love to as soon as I can afford a new system!

Some of us are too poor and as 32bit systems are still quite common to many who haven't bought a new system in over 2 years... Yes, 64bit has been around for a long time, but only somewhat recently has this become "normal" for a new user.

My SONAR (currently with no Panu mods) doesn't show anything at all about 32 or 64 bit on the splash screen

No mods and no 32 or 64 on splash screen here either
