X1b step sequencer issue

Hello! Although I have been using Sonar 7 Producer for some time now, I just upgraded to X1b. I have used Sonar to do straight ahead band recording with great success for some time now, however, my knowledge of Session Drummer is very limited and I have only just started playing with it.
When I call up Session Drummer and set up a kit, I then go over to the main screen, hit "views" and the "step sequencer" button is not enabled, and pressing "alt4" doesn't do it either?
How do I enable step sequencer? I did go into the Sonar help files but didn't find anything there.
Thank you.

There's a Step Sequencer Button on the upper right hand side of the SD3 GUI. Press that. Sometimes, and I don't know why or wherefore, that button doesn't do anything so you have to load SD3 again but it usually works OK.

Also check the Master Classes on SD3 - must watch IMO.

I encountered  a variant of this issue with the step sequencer while following the master class.  For some reason the only way I could enable the step sequencer was through the menu, not through the button

Whoa...this is kinda funny, after your response Larry, I went back to the studio and pulled it all up again........my session drummer...believe it or not...has NO step sequencer button in the upper right hand corner....NONE....everything else is there though. Jeez.
Maybe I got the ONE X1 upgrade disc that they forgot to add sequencer to. ha ha
I wonder if I need to completely reload Sonar...seems like it has missed something to me?

slcatvip, Yeah that would be weird because almost every synth has the same button on it. Is there a setting somewhere? Others will know more.

I reloaded everything and nothing yet, however the rest works FANTASTIC! I am sure I am missing something as I have no experience with anything midi.........I could EASILY not have midi stuff set up right.
I'll keep trying!!! Thanks you all, have a great Monday, if there is such a thing. Jim

    Does this work?

Go to track view and select the SD3 MIDI track (the track "header" on the left of the view). To dispel doubt click it at the far left until it turns black. Make sure it's the only track selected.
Set "snap to" to "measure" and put the cursor on the beginning of bar 2.
Right-click that point in the MIDI track, and select "step sequencer" from the drop down menu that appears (off the top of my head it's in the "view" section).

Hi Guys! Ok so.....I found the sequencer.....I am not sure how.....please forgive me, I can record live bands all day long, mix and master them, but this midi stuff is all new to me, at least I didn't get the only version of Sonar X1b without it...ha ha.....it doesn't seem to recognize Session drummer 3, session drummer and session drummer 2 is all that comes up. Being the old "swamp Yankee" that I am, I'll keep prodding at it. Just thought I'd let you know where I am at!
    Have a fantastic week...Sonar ROCKS!!!
ps, I cannot wait to start recording my new CD, I will of course use a real drummer.
Thanks again for all your input...it does help!
