X1c - Is it still a "Nested Menu" fest?

When I first bought and installed X1, I was appalled at the amount of clicking I had to do in order to perform certain functions, which formerly only required one or two clicks.

After trying very hard to like it, I got disgusted and removed it. Those nested menus were a deal-breaker for me.

How is X1c in that department? Has this flaw been improved enough so that X1 is as easy to work with (GUI-wise) as 8.5? Or do you still have to click through nested menus to get things done?

X1c is the same basic layout for 99% of the program.

There are a couple of workflow improvements: separate snap-settings for the piano roll view, a feature to set your note length to the "last selected" note, and a feature where you alt-click on track numbers to select downstream/upstream routing (tracks or busses it connects to).

But overall it's clear they weren't intending on changing the fundamentals of the "flawed" interface. Personally, After using X1 for a couple projects, I've learned to like 90% of the new interface, with a 10% that still nags at me but is honestly workable.

When Ben gets Sonar Plus up for X1C that may help in some things. I have use it as it is from the utilities menu and it works as is just fine. This is the one for X1B.  He will be updating it for X1C soon.

I like the way X1 works but I do miss some of the buttons we had in 8xx. With Sonar Plus most of those are back. Plus some added neat things too.

    Compguy,

Can you give me an example of what you try to accomplish with "too many menus" ... Just pure curiousity

I wish I could, but I forget the specifics. I remember a sinking feeling realizing that things I had visible buttons for were now hiding in nested menus.

I'll probably try it again with X1c and let you know what I notice in that reagard.

Sounds good. I have never come across an instance where I felt I was doing too much clicking so I was just curious.

A good example would be the insert new tempo function. In Sonar 8 and before there was a little icon next to the tempo to click and then tap the tempo in with the mouse. Now, you have to go to the project menu, then insert tempo change or open the tempo view and click the +. It was easier when it was right there next to the actual tempo. It's like when my girlfriend kept cleaning up my tools while working on my deck, Sure it looked Much cleaner, but took twice as long to get anything done cause I didn't know where she'd put things and had to go back and ask.
