X1c crosstalk issue

Hi there,
I don't think this is the standard crosstalk bug that's been discussed elsewhere in the forum. Here's my problem:

I inserted a softsynth and recorded a track. Midi ins and outs were applied to the appropriate settings. I then inserted another softsynth. Midi ins and outs automatically went to their correct settings. When I play the second softsynth, it also triggers the first synth at the same time.

This was covered in another post, and solved when the user switched to a different external midi box. Problem is, I'm not using a midi box. I'm using a Keyrig49 USB right into the computer.  I came to record a little bit tonight and have instead spent the better part of two hours flipping the same parameters back and forth hoping something would just fix this. I haven't been so lucky. Please drop me a line if you've got any hints. Many thanks,
Bill

What is the input set to for the channels? If its omni then it will behave as you describe. Make sure that your keyboard is also not set to omni.

Hi John and thanks for the quick response. The input on the tracks were both 'Keyrig>>omni'. I switched the first track from 'Keyrig' to 'none' and it fixed the problem. Does this mean that I have to switch the finished track's input setting every time I'm done recording on that track? And then put it back when I want to record again? That would fix the problem but I still think I must be missing something (i.e. there must be a more efficient way?) Regards,

As suggested check settings but I was trying a suggestion by Jeff Evans with looping but involving several synths and I was getting some very strange results. I hadn't witnessed the 'crosstalk' bug before but there is definitely something a little awry with MIDI routing in Sonar, IMHO.

If anyone else would like to have a look at this post and the subsequent ones between myself and Jeff, see what results they get. Mine were very strange and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my routing.

Try turning off the MIDI echo button on the track you don't want to hear outputting.

This is for the OP. If you set the track input to a channel and do what FBB suggests about echo then when you select a track that will be the one receiving input and the only one.

You need to set the output channel on the keyboard to match. The tracks can be all the same channel though.

FBB's got it right in post #5. What's received is not important in this case; what matters is what's being echoed to where.

By default, SONAR has Always Echo Current MIDI Track enabled in Preferences > MIDI Playback and Recording. This ensures that the track (MIDI or Simple Instrument) that has focus will echo incoming MIDI to its assigned synth. Using this setting, you should only ever be able to hear one synth at a time, unless you click the Input Echo button of another track to force it on.

    SONAR Platinum x64, 2x MOTU 2408/PCIe-424  (24-bit, 48kHz)
    Win10, I7-6700K @ 4.0GHz, 24GB DDR4, 2TB HDD, 32GB SSD Cache, GeForce GTX 750Ti, 2x 24" 16:10 IPS Monitors
