X1d Hanging on "close project" I'm stumped.

OK just to be clear this can NOT be a plug-in as it is the same with every single project I start or have created in the past. When I hit file->close it hangs until I have to kill the program with the X or through task mgr. I usually just go to task manager as I have to go there anyway because after I close it any other way it is still hanging up in memory. I have reinstalled and more. Virtually every other front of your nose solution has been tried and yet it still hangs. It is beyond annoying. Thanks for any help you may have.

Do you have an M-Audio MIDI device?

I'm thinking driver (as well?) Mark. (Maybe not MIDI, though.) I have struggled with weird M-Audio stuff (seemingly resolved in the 64 bit driver for Windows 7,) and Edirol "quirkiness" that didn't hang Sonar, but the driver would do flaky things.

If it is not a plug in, that is the most logical place to look next.

I'd you have a MIDI device attached when exiting SONAR this can cause 'hanging' as SONAR waits to get a message from the device that never comes. M-Audio were notorious for this.

Honestly I thought this had been taken care of in X1. viz that SONAR would no longer wait for this message and just close as per it's command.

It's certainly worth looking in Windows Task Manager to see if there's a concurrent process running when SONAR hangs.

Yep another vote for M-audio MIDI driver causing it. I really should get rid of my MIDIsport but I'm too tight to buy another interface.

I still love my MIDISport 8x8.  I haven't had any of the trouble mentioned above, either, although I am running the latest updates of Sonar and newest x64 M-Audio drivers.

I think MB and set up will also be a factor. I used to have all sorts of trouble on my old set up. That was an ASUS P5B, uninstall and reinstall of the MIDIsport drivers was so regular, i.e. every startup I got so I hardly noticed doing it.

I upgraded last December to a gigabyte P67 and most of my MIDIsport troubles disappeared. It will hang the X1 process on close down though. Not so as you notice unless I try to restart X1 again within 7 or 8 minutes, it hangs the Sonar process rather than the program open. I know it's the MIDI sport 'cos if I disconnect it close down is fine.

Try shutting X1 down and check your process manager, If Sonar is still showing there it's hanging.

I actually have noticed that happen a couple times, but I never connected it to the M-Audio driver.  Very interesting and good to know.  I have to say, though, that most times this doesn't seem to happen, for me.  It's very sporadic.  These types of issues are so odd and difficult to pin down, sometimes...

I have a Keystation Pro88, and never use the MAudio drivers, just the generics.

yes I do have an m-audio keyrig 49 controller. Is that bad? I have had it for a few years now and Sonar since 3.0. IS this a new bug? I have read through the thread now and am wondering why it would only be surfacing now and not in the past. I am also using the most current version of Sonar and Win 7 X64 I have another (full size weighted keys) keyboard I can use...so I will try uninstalling the keyrig and see what happens. Thanks...hope this works
