X2 -- As good as it seems?
Does anyone else remember the plethora of problems that happened with the X1 release? I'm just wondering if the pre order is really worth it, or if it would be smarter to wait for all the the initial bugs to be worked out?

It'd be smarter to get it now while they have the bonus going on and just not install it or install it side by side with X1 then wait to see what happens. That's what I'm probably gonna do. If it's too buggy I'll wait until they fix it to fully switch over. If it's good right out of the "box"... awesome.

Do what your gut says. I use Sonar X1 daily and i have not ran into any bugs when using it. Even when it was just released. to each ther own. What bugs are you seeing in X1? Just ask yourslef if you should do it or not do it.

I cant see it being as buggy as X1 was. When X1 was released there was no webinar before hand, at least we have seen X2 in action for the most part :-) IMO X2 is what X1 should have been, cant wait to get my hands on it!

Yeah, I'll probably pick it up anyway. If it turns out to be super buggy, I've always got X1 to fall back on!

Rasure I cant see it being as buggy as X1 was. When X1 was released there was no webinar before hand, at least we have seen X2 in action for the most part :-) IMO X2 is what X1 should have been, cant wait to get my hands on it! There was no webinar, but they did show video of it performing functions that didn't work upon release. Many posts about that IIRC. It made folks wonder how Cake could get a working version, but we couldn't ... Anyone who claims they used X1 from initial release and never ran in to a single bug from day 1 is either FOS or only used it as a basic unlimited multichannel recorder and didn't use half of it's functions. There was lots broken in X1 when it was released, and there still is lots broken that will never be fixed now. And I'd be willing to wager there's lots wrong with X2. There's been things wrong with every single release of Sonar going as far back as I remember, and most of the bugs never get fixed before they end it's life cycle. They better have fixed the Pro Channel in X2 ...

If it turns out to be super buggy, I've always got X1 to fall back on! That's my take on it. I can at least learn all the new stuff with X1 as a safety net. But as Rasure pointed out, there was a 90 minute live Webinar using X2 today, so chances are it will not be a repeat of the initial X1 release.

I'm just wondering if the pre order is really worth it, or if it would be smarter to wait for all the the initial bugs to be worked out? It is a very poor analogy to compare the release of X2 to that of X1.. X1 was a fundamental ground up makeover of the prior version... while X2 is an improved iteration... while undoubtedly there will be a patch before the end of the year i suspect X2 will be stable and usable from day 1.

Also it's worth noting that, X1 was totally new. I mean they changed almost everything from 8.5.3. It's obvious to see bugs in a product with such a huge scope. Now that their framework is in place and pretty solid, I wouldn't expect a lots of bugs. I am waiting for the youtube version as I missed the webinar today.

I don't anticipate this update having nearly the issues that I had with the initial release of X1. (Hope springs eternal)

Well there's a whole basket full of new features and improvements in X2 that makes me want it right away. The seminar's demo of it seemed to be working fine considering it was a live webinar. No crashes were to be seen.

I upgraded to X1 from 8.5 last week and was starting to wonder if Native Instruments was ever going to release more serial numbers for the included Guitar Rig 4... after seeing the webinar, I don't care. I think TH2 was what I was waiting for all these years. Also, i agree with djwayne, the timeline zoom looks awesome.

I think X2 will be very good. If you think about it, it is a further expansion of X1 expanded which is quite stable overall. Now that layers are gone, many will have a better experience with it in my view. Personally I concur with others and I want it NOW!!!

I'll be a cautious observer of X2 going into release and installation. even though I've already ordered it I think I'll wait for feedback from those who install early.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. I have high hopes though, I imagine Cake should of learned from the mistakes of yesteryear.
